Landy probably gets less than that with the flat cap

I know I'm a bitter Isles fan and hate that you got Toews, but if I'm the Avs I keep Ryan Graves. He's essentially your Adam Pelech. You don't get rid of guys like that. If anything, Girard just became expendable because of Toews.

Girard is 10 times better than Graves. No way they protect Graves over Girard

I get where you're coming from on Toews but Girard is 4 years younger on a very good deal so there is no way they'd let him go; that would make no sense. If EJ waives, they'll be able to keep Makar, Girard and Toews and it's pretty unlikely Seattle takes EJ. That's better than having Makar, Toews and Graves no matter how you slice it.

Moot points. I bet Seattle would probably grab 1 of the goalies over a d-man. They'll be tons of d available, but they're 2 solid goalies that won't cost a lot and will be highly attractive

I didn't mean it from a protection standpoint. Meant it more from a tradeable asset. I think Girard is a stud, I just woudn't move Graves.

If I understand the expansion rules correctly, by not signing Grubauer until after the expansion draft, the AVs can protect Francouz and then sign Grubauer after the draft without really exposing either.... That is if I'm correct that Hunter Miska would meet the expansion goalie requirements

Yes but that still exposes Grubauer to Seattle who can select him and sign him to a deal before free agency

Sure, but would you want to take the risk that you select a UFA that walks away compared to a signed solid top 4 d-man. or young depth forward.

As long as the Avs don't sign Grubauer before the draft, I expect that Seattle will take Graves, or the remaining forward they don't protect.
