what's with all the matthews trades? you don't trade away franchise centres, you build your dynasty around them. Just look at the late 80s oil- flushed cheeks

Holl <<<< Ekblad (Ekblad is good, don't get me wrong but the $5.5m difference pays for Brodie, and I'd rather have two competent RHD the one 1RHD.)
Kerfoot >> Acciari (Self explanatory)
Andersen >> Bobrovsky (I don't want anything to do with that ridiculous contract)

dude cmon, having a true #1D in Ekblad is much better for a team than having both Brodie and Holl.

the difference between Brodie and Holl vs. Ekblad is not Auston Matthews though. Ekblad is a more offensive minded guy, kinda like a slightly better/younger Rielly, and he's expensive. he's by no accounts a shutdown guy. Rielly is our #1

And on the 2nd and third pair that leaves us with who? And also, why would Florida do this? He’s their best defenceman, and if they lose him, their offence will be much better of course, but their defence would be terrible with yandle and gudas.

obviously the difference isnt matthews, but if the leafs had a choice between having both Brodie and holl vs Ekblad they would take Ekblad in a heart beat

neither team would do this. im just saying Brodie + Holl is not worth nearly as much as Ekblad.

Rielly is our #1 though. Don’t get me wrong, having a 1LHD and 1RHD would be very nice, but not at the cost of Matthews. That Bobrovsky contract is also ridiculous and by no means would I want that on my team for 6 more years. Andersen is also half the price and better, now at least.

well, yeah obviously, but he's under contract so we'd have to acquire him lol - whatever Florida would want for Ekblad I would not want to give up

There's many scenarios where the leafs swap brodie/holl for ekblad and get worse because of what it would cost

I know, I agree the trade doesn't make sense for the leafs. all im saying, to counter that one guys comment, is that the leafs would be far better with Ekblad than Brodie and holl
