I haven't read anything about Amirov being a risky pick. Everything I've read has his floor as fast 30-40pt high IQ 3rd liner.

Big dmen that dominate junior because of their size are historically the riskier guys to take with a mid first.

I think his floor is much more likely to be playing in Russia.

Lapierre would've been the best pick there. Laf and him would've been dynamic. im not sold on amirov at all. we will see with him.

That's cool. I had Lapierre late 1st and Amirov and Khusnutdinov both in the top 15 on my board. Schneider was a early/mid 2nd rounder on my board. Similar to where we picked Robertson last year.

Yeah that's about right. He plays a really nice 2 way transition game. Schneider is a high floor low ceiling guy. Similar to someone like we have in Ryan Lindgren but with a slightly bigger frame.

Good breakdown of Amirov's game here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKf_pni8vus

Well considering you've offered up nothing but positional analysis when it comes to your prospect critiquing in this thread, I'll stick with the guys opinions that get paid to track prospects.

I watched 2 games of Schneider in Junior. He isn't really anything special. Amirov's incredible. His highlights at the Karjala Cup, are enough to tell you that he's going to be a top line winger. Great pick by Dubas!

No playoffs series wins and missed the playoffs last year. GM of the year, oh wait that award went to Dubas' boss/mentor Uncle Lou.

He had to clean up "his mentor"'s mess
"His mentor" signed Marleau and Zaitsev to horrible contracts that cost Dubas a 1st and a valueable 3rd liner in Connor Brown

The team is still young and Dubas has a stacked prospect pool and pretty stacked lineup. He fixed the "problems" that the team had in defense, toughness and leadership this offseason.

What more do you want from the guy. Time will tell. Just you wait
