Awfully tough thing to build, when nobody knows the internal budgets, and possibly rebuilds or retools in another year. Near impossible but fun exercise

Jenner, Rust Murphy, and Petersen will all 100% be protected, Fabbri probably will as well. They wont take Lucic (as much as I want them to)

There's only 23 players here so it's more than one team. Probably took an AHLer.

Taking Talbot's horrible contract and not Holtby or Allen is a crime.

Bryan Rust isn’t gonna be available. He’s 100% gonna be protected. I can’t imagine a situation where we wouldn’t be.

They have to take one player from each team except Vegas. So there is gonna be 30 players taken in the draft. Some are gonna be moved to their AHL team or traded.

They can’t take an AHL player. The player has to have played in the NHL for 3 years and have 70 games played in the last 2 years to be available. All other players are exempt.

No, you need to expose 2 forwards, 1 defenseman and 1 goalie but Seattle can select a pending UFA or an AHLer. The 70GP rule is only for the 3 (forwards and dmen) you MUST expose.

In 2017, among their 30 picks, VGK took:
-RFA Teemu Pulkkinen from Arizona (had only played 13 games that season; 49 in the past two years)
-UFA Connor Brickley from Carolina (0 GP in NHL that year, 23 in the past two)
-UFA Jean-Francois Berube (UFA that year)
-RFA Brendan Leipsic (0 GP in NHL that year, 6 in the past two)
-RFA Griffin Reinhart (0 GP in NHL that year, 29 in the past two)

We'll take the Penguins as exemple:

They protect Crosby, Malkin, Guentzel, Zucker, Rust, Kapanen, ZAR/McCann, Letang, Dumoulin, Pettersson and Jarry.

Assuming they meet exposure requirements by playing this season, they expose Tanev, Lafferty, Matheson and DeSmith.
The rest: Blueger, Angello, Jankowski, Rodrigues, Miletic, Currie, Gaudreau, Aberg, Ceci, Riikola, Lindgren, Czuczman, Ruhwedel, Trotman and Lagace can also be selected by Seattle. It's unlikely for most but they can be taken.

Only the (7-3-1) or (8-1) players cannot be drafted by Seattle. So yes, they can take an AHLer.

And I expect the 70 games in 2 years/40 games this year to be prorated since both seasons will have less games.

Good to know!! Thanks!! I thought a player was exempt if they didn’t play 3 years in the NHL, and didn’t play 70 games in the last 2 years or 40 In the past season. Like Marino, that’s why he is exempt!!

Peterson isn’t getting exposed. He’s the kings next starter. Will more than likely split this season. Then be full time starter next
