Best defensive forward in the league? Tell that to Sean couturier lmfao. Take nichuskin off the avs and they still finish top of their division. Take barzel off the islanders and they’re a lottery team

Couturier was not the best defensive forward in the league last season. He should have received the selke after the 18-19 season , not the 19-20 season.

Great argument

the only way bjorkstrand will put up more then 60 points is if marner is on his line.

Leafs easily decline. Not enough for Marner. The trade starts with Seth Jones. I'm sorry, but that's the reality.

Brandon Pirri also was on pace for over 30 goals. Bjorkstrand isn’t a “30 goal scorer” till he does it. And I highly doubt he’ll ever score 40

That’s a small sample size and he wasn’t consistent. Bjorkstrand has a 126 game sample size over 2 seasons scoring at a higher rate than 95% of players in the league .

The only reason Marner puts up as many points as he does is he because he plays with elite centers.

Please for the love of everything stop posting terrible Marner trades my brain cant handle it, they just get worse and worse

I can only handle so many bait posts each day

I have an advantage for cheering for a less popular team (Dallas) but when people do a bad Heiskanen trade I lose it too

And here’s an equally bad comment. Jones is worth more than marner. It’s the other way around. Jones starts with marner

He was up there. No serious person thought nichuskin should win the Selke this year. That’s just as absurd as ZAR or Tanev or Bluegar winning the award. They’re all good bottom 6 players, but you seriously cannot compare their impact to someone like Barzel. It’s just silly. Avs would be fine without Nichuskin, Isles would not be fine without barzel

It’s a hyperbole. I’m just trying to illustrate Bjorkstand isn’t an elite winger. He’s a good top 6 guy, but he’s not in the category of marner.

If he scores at an elite rate and he’s elite defensively, he’s more than a “good top 6 guy” . If Marner and bjorkstrand switched teams , the point totals would be a lot closer.

that's a lot of numbers for a guy who's 53 spots lower in point totals over the last 3 years and a guy who's 52 spots lower in primary assists

c8ed5beb674dd4821fc4638d83884a79.pnga136d0bb1612da077f51a69b650b95db.png

marner gets even better the more recent I make the charts too, I'm actually padding Bjorkstrands stats by going back further in time lol. Over 2 years Marner is 5th in points, he's 63rd, Marner is 2nd in primary assists and he's 73rd

Those lists are incorrect. Just at a glance Kucherov is 2nd in total points over the past 3 seasons, the lists above show him 7th. Marner is 19th in points over the past 3 years, not 6th as shown.

http://www.nhl.com/stats/skaters?reportType=season&seasonFrom=20172018&seasonTo=20192020&gameType=2&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&sort=points,goals,assists&page=0&pageSize=50

Also Marner isn't 2nd in 1st assists, he's 5th. Wheeler is 2nd.

Bjork doesn’t score at an elite rate, idc what your analytics say. Career high 40 points and 23 goals isn’t “elite”.

Goals per 60 min is not analytics. Good try though.

18-19 season : 95th percentile goals per 60 min
19-20 season : 98th percentile goals per 60 min

He scored at a higher rate than 98 percent of NHLers this season. That’s a fact

that doesn't mean anything considering he had 23 goals in a full year in 18-19 and 21 goals this season. Again, hes a good player, but hes nowhere near elite. Production is what matters in this league, and he produces like a 2nd line forward. Hes more closer to Mikayev than Marner

It actually does mean something. Marner played 22 min per game , bjorkstrand played 18 min. You’re listing his goal totals without context. He produces like a top line forward because he scores at a higher rate than 98% percent of the league.

If Marner had 18 min ATOI, he would have less points.
