Agreed but isn't Schmaltz not very good at faceoffs? Also he played RW no?

$650K doesn't make a difference lol. Don't forget Hossa's $5.275M is going to LTIR.

I was just trying to say a line from The Godfather.

But if I was to dissect this trade, why would Kreider waive a full MNC on a contract he just signed?

I don’t know if he’s good at faceoffs, but he played both C and RW. I know Dvorak is good at faceoffs. Schmaltz is cheaper and younger too, so Schmaltz > Kreider IMO

Have to agree with you. Good implication with the "add" because it might be substantial.

Would you want to play on the 3rd line for the next 7 years?

If I made $6.5M a year and can control where I play the next 4 years, I wouldn’t give a sheeeet if I played on Mars. Which is like Arizona coincidently.

lmfao.. I like to hope for his mind to defect from that mindset personally.

Ha. Was just pointing out that most players probably won’t be willing to play in that toxic environment if they don’t have to.

I understand. You're probably right. I still think having Kreider as a 3LW at $6.5M is a disservice.

Cant imagine Arizona considers this, both are wingers but Schmaltz can also split time in the middle. Age alone makes this a pretty easy no from the Yotes though

Would rather keep a 24 year old C over a 29 year old winger. Clear difference there.

Also ARI isn't really even in position to move centers...I'd say Schmaltz is their only current actual TOP6 center.

I actually think he plays primarily on the left but is more than capable of taking faceoffs like Giroux does

Hes ok at faceoffs, below average for a center but above average for a winger. The advantage is he is a right handed shot so you can better choose where the puck goes from the dot

With Hall gone I'd imagine he's returning to C.

Nonetheless, the age is an issue.

For sure. If we added some extras would it work? or is the base to weak to work with initially?

Imo it is. Wouldn't want Kreider's contract right now, too hefty for a 30 year-old
