Teams losing money ontop of having to sign RFAs means they are less willing to spend additional money on UFAs

All the RFAs left will probably stay with whoever has their rights

Agreed. I think hockey has also started to become baseball-esque, in that they know they can pay someone on an ELC/pre-arb contract way less than many of these UFA's, to get the exact same production.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if 2-3 years down the road, we start to see more and more mid-tier caliber player be non-tendered.

There’s just no need to pay a FA until there’s a definite season to play, and as long as the NHL and NHLPA continue to negotiate, there’s no definite season.

Just to bad for Methot. Was a solid player. At one point he and Karlsson were arguably the best d tandem in the league. But ya good solid points on the rfa and ufas. Another possibility is that the gms have gotten deals made but just waiting for season start. Just crazy how slow this offseason has been. Perfectly understandable why though.
