If we were to assume that Canes is pretty much in the same situation as Toronto is as a team, namely a young team close to contending, then is there really any point for them to agree to this? They add a rental goalie, two future assets and some mid level supplementary assets, while giving up some good pieces for their current run.
In a vacuum the value is OK, but I just don't see the point for Canes to do this. Tbf I don't see the point for the Leafs do this either, since they need a close to TOP10 goalie like Andersen due to their D being relatively weak, and they'd also lose their only actually defensive center in Kerfoot.
If TOR is looking to get better NOW, then a team like Canes is just the wrong trade partner since they're in exact same position.
