Nope, Nylander will score less goals but be a much better all around player. Regardless of what people say, Willie's defensive game is really improving and although he still has his brain cramps he is improving his overall game. He is also signed for 4 more years and Laine needs a new deal after next year so he will be making much more.

No chance Winnipeg considers downgrading. Laine is better at everything and younger.

No he isn't. He scores more goals and that is it. He can't play defensively and behind the play he looks disinterested.

Untrue. Laine is better at everything. Unquestionably.

Why would you use only one seasons stats when saying he scored more goals? Over the last three seasons Laine is almost double Nylander. 102 vs 58. And that is with Laine being two years younger than Nylander. They're very different players, yes Nylander is currently better defensively than Laine, but Laine also offers better peripheral stats. Over the last three seasons 241 hits vs nylanders 46. And Laine had 122 blocks vs Nylanders 46. If you look at age comparable stats Laine is a much better player than Nylander.

Leaf fans know this. Laine is a far better player at 22 than Nylander was, the only way you can make them comparable is to heavily cherry pick stats to try and get Nylander up to Laine's level.

Laine by age 22 had scored almost 3 times the goals and had almost double the points Nylander had by the time he was 22.

Time will tell is true, but at this point, Nylander has a LOT of catching up to do to get up to Laine's level.

Mathews is a hell of a player but I’ll take Phil Esposito at his word Laine is one of the best scorers he’s seen in a decade. Asked him at the golf course the other day love talking hockey with him. I am the superintendent at the course he plays 3 times a week with his cousin and business partners.
