If he does it won’t give immediate 1C position

I'm sure hed be sheltered but those lines are probably pretty interchangeable. Getzlaf probably has the toughest match ups while the other too probably face shut sown lines based on who's playing the best

you can't throw zegras into the 1c spot like that...you have to work him into the top spot gradually. let him start on the third line, learn a thing or two from getzlaf and henrique, and then let him prove he's worth that high touted 1c spot.

I'd start him out with Henrique at LW. That way, when he gets tossed from the face-off circle, there's another C to take the draw. As a result, you'd be less reluctant to let him take defensive zone draws.

Zegras only makes this team if he's earned the 1C spot. No reason to squeeze him into the lineup unless it's clear he's our best center in camp. I have no interest seeing this kid fighting for playing time when he should be getting top-line minutes somewhere. I don't think that'll happen but who knows. Considering the gap between the start of the NHL and the AHL seasons, they might have him around just for the hell of it. But once the AHL gets going he only plays up here if he's getting top-6 minutes at least.
