I really don't think either TOR nor CHI should want to do that trade. Strome won't perform the functions of a #3C like you want him to. He's just not that type of player. Also, CHI really needs a #1C right now and Strome has a chance to really prove himself.

Chicago passes. We are locked in on defense on the right side with Boqvist and Mitchell as two hot prospects, Murphy who I'll take over Holl any day, Regula who's a budding good prospect and Seabrook still around so Holl doesn't offer much value. Mikko is an okay prospect but Hawks are loaded with okay or better prospects on the defensive left side. Kerfoot type of players aren't anything special. Classic case of not understanding the needs of the team you're trying to acquire a player from.

From a Leafs perspective, don't think Strome wouldn't be a good fit as a 3rd liner long term and with JT locked into 4 years it would be a bad move to acquire Strome.

I get Chicago is in a rebuild but they have like the worst defense in the league, they are in experienced but are terrible they have given up the most high danger chances 2 years running and certainly haven't improved - I wouldn't do this trade as Murphy and Holl are the same player I'll give Murphy the edge as he's played more but he certainly doesn't hold the fort on the defensive end he does well with a quality partner (just like Holl)

Neither of those trades are likely to happen. Dermott will likely be picked up by Seatlle.

I do fully expect that Sandin and Liljegren will be the third pairing next year. It is the way Toronto rolls. Should we put one of Sandin or LIljegren on the third pairing when we have the absolutely perfect partner to mentor them and ensure they not only succeed this year, but also long-term? No, no. We should waste that development opportunity on a 27-year-old. Let's instead put them both in the lineup next year, together, so they can't be mentored, or protected, and will fail together.

Totally wrong on Murphy. Murphy has been the rock defensively as a pairing, whether that was playing with Keith, Carlsson, Koekko or Matta, not the other way around like Holl who needs a good defensive partner to succeed. Murphy is hands down a better defender then Holl and not only do isolated advanced stats prove that but I also watch both teams extensively. No way does Holl have as much value as Murphy and it's more then just an edge.

Furthermore, not a chance Holl plays over two of the hottest top 20 defensive prospects in the NHL in Boqvist and Mitchell for a rebuilding team. So there goes 3 spots making Holl the 7th man which Seabs has for good reason. Furthermore, Hawks have Beaudin, Kalynuk, Carlsson, as prospects on the left side and Mikko definitely isn't better then all of those guys so he adds little to no value.

Regarding Hawks defensive against high danger chances, Hawks have De Haan who only played 29 games last season so he's more or less new, added Zadarov who's a zone entry shut down guy, added Janmark and Soderberg who are excellent defensive up front to Kampf, Carps and Toews if he comes back. The defensive players on both offensive and defense are improved quite a bit.

Again, this trade does nothing to move the needle for the Hawks to give up a 23 year 2C who's put up .77ppg since joining them and .86ppg if you subtract the handful of games he played at wing as a bad experiment; sorry...just makes no sense.
