I miss him but at the same time I don't miss Zaitsev...

If it was a guarantee that Calgary picked 28 - 32 I don't know if I would oppose to a 1st going to Ottawa, that being said it is never a guarantee and I think Calgary needs to draft a D man in the first this year.

Brown would be nice, would hate to loose our replacement for Ryan though in the process

Eh, the benefit of Brown far outweighs waiting on Gawdin. I think you're looking more at Pelletier, Zary, Ruzicka, Zavgorodny to replace Ryan in the next couple years, Gawdin I think profiles better on the wing after watching him in Stockton. If I were to look at Flames depth down the middle next year when Ryan is gone I think it's

Monahan
Lindholm
Backlund
Bennett
Pelletier
Zavgorodny
Ruzicka
Zary
Gawdin

Hyman/Mikheyev-Kadri-C.Brown would be as elite a checking line as they come

i thought Pelletier is very likely a pure winger. Zary is the natural centre

Down the middle? Why do you have Pelletier and Zavgorodny on that list? They are far from centers.

I think that Pelletier has a higher ceiling as a C and Zary has a higher floor, Pelletier's two way game is much stronger and I think he would drive a line better.

I don't disagree, I'm just saying Gawdin is a replacement bottom 6 RHS center for Calgary. I would be willing to move a prospect with a higher ceiling like Zavgorodny instead. It's mostly thinking from a team needs perspective. Gawdin is almost NHL ready and has a solid 2-way game. If Ryan walks we need someone to step into that 4C role next year.

Outside of a couple faceoffs on PK's Pelletier hasn't played center since like rep. There is a very low chance he develops into a center in the NHL.

I see Pelletier as a potential top 6 winger, no reason to hurt his development by playing him on the 4th line
