With their defense in shambles, I’m willing to offload Bonino and Cole for McCann, unprotected 2022 1st, and 2021 2nd. If JR wants to add, BG graciously accepts.

I’m sure the Pens will not want to trade yet another unprotected first round pick BUT I will not be surprised if they do.

Also not sure re-acquiring past heroes will work. Usually does NOT. Prime example: Andrew Ladd from Winnipeg to Chicago at whichever TDL.

I think any 1st would have the same protections as the one in the Zucker trade did. It was non-Playoff protected last draft and they chose to use that protection instead of giving MN 15oa. It might bite them and it might not this year.

Where exactly is McCann going to play? He isn't better than ek or sturm. So no thanks.

Then you are forgetting Kaprizov is a restricted agent this summer. He can sign 2-3 years contract to reach 27 years old & leave. There's a reason Guerin has made it clear they want to win as to convince Kaprizov to sign long term

True. The Pens are going to have a Long Hard Cold Rebuild at this rate. They are bereft of picks and prospects already.

Thing with the idea of protecting a 22 1st is that they are going to be as bad, or worse, the next season. Its just putting off the inevitable....

They could have easily protected Dumba if Guerin didn't give Spurgeon an awful contract and moved him , or if he didn't re-sign Brodin, or if he worked out a trade for Dumba, or just let SEA take Kunin and keep the guy they would have taken instead.

The expansion draft is going to cost MN both or Kunin and Greenway (or whoever), and all they got for that was a 2nd, move up from a 4th rounder to a 3rd rounder, and a rental.

Brodin & spurgeon are damn good. They match each other perfectly, & they aren't bad contracts. 90-95 percent of wild fan base is happy this signings happen. It's baffling some such as yourself are against it.

Dude for the Luke kunin trade, he was never going to be more than 3rd line winger on wild. Wild traded him because of expansion, & used the 2nd to get a really good Russian player prospect in Center Marat Khusnutdinov, Damon jones. & nick Bonino who if wild are our can sell for 2nd or 1st round pick.

Guerin much like the Parise trade, he has made it clear he isn't making a trade just to do so. So the ask for dumba from Guerin has always been as reported a top 6c, or high 1st, & top 6 c prospect.

What do you mean it will cost Minnesota both? I will bet you 50 dollars to a charity of your choice that by resigning Foligno, Guerin already knows whose being selected, or Has A deal with Seattle, or Zuccarello has agreed to waive for expansion since nobody including Seattle will want to take on Zuccarello contract

I’d still keep an eye out for possible trades for futures even if it’s not for all of the trades I mocked here. I think they’ll try and stay competitive but I think they should move out UFAs if they get the right return because honestly they don’t have Cup caliber players currently.

I agree with the right return. But also with fact that Kaprizov will become free agent @ 27 years old, wild has no choice but to win so as to sign long term with wild & not just short term

Even the poll on here has the Spurgeon signing as overwhelmingly bad (80%), and that was the pre-COVID time when the cap was expected to rise and him coming off of a career year. 7 x 7.5 with a full NMC that didn't start for another season and runs until he's late 30's. That is the kind of deal you let some other team sign and then point and laugh at them. When you can make the NYR Shattenkirk deal look good it's a very bad thing.

You are really bringing up cap friendly polli? Most wild fans love Jared spurgeon & couldn't be more happy he's wild captain. Who cares what other fanbase think about wild players, & who they sign reaction?

Glad y'all agree lol. I'd love to see Bonino back in a penguins jersey. That HBK Line was deadly!! I'll never forget it

Most are happy because it's not Koivu as the "C" anymore. Most I talk to don't like the Spurgeon contract. It's too long and for too much money is the general coconscious. 3 x $7m or $6m with term, even less with AAV the NMC attached to it.

Other fanbases are a good way to judge how built in home team bias we all carry around towards "our guys". I'll take the polls on here over most other random polls or talking to "fans in the stands". The people here at least mostly have a better understanding about long term cap and team building than the other STHs sitting around me at the X. Separating the player from the cap hit is hard for most people to understand.
