Description

If OTT continues to play the way they've been, they'll have a lottery pick in the 2021 draft. There's a lot of center and D talent available this year, and I can see them wanting a winger. Doesn't hurt to get one who actually has NHL experience.

No thanks. Ottawa will be better served with another top 3 Pick than Laine. Laine is going to ask for a King's ransom on his next contract, and I don't think he will live up to it.

I could see OTT going for Owen Power or Brandt Clarke (RHD) or one of the top 4 centers (Beniers, Johnson, Raty, Eklund). I know it sucks losing now, but one more top pick could suit them really well going forward. They still seem to have a need at C and a need on RHD.

Here is the challenge. They 2021 draft may not occur in 2021. So pick for player swaps, especially players due a new contract, will get tricky.

OTT could just take Johnson, Beniers, Eklund, or Guenther with that pick and get a top line player for 3 ELC years, plus 2-3 more cheap years if they bridge while our window is open. No need to enter cap hell early and cut off years from the end of our window, even though I do like Laine.
