I agree with this. Personally I’d rather see demelo moved if we do land a guy like Hamilton. Morrissey, Samberg, Forbort(if resigned), Poolman and Stanley all play a defensive style game. We don’t necessarily need demelo. The bigger question is what do we do with Morrissey in 2 years when Heinola is hopefully ready for top pair time, samberg has made a push into the top 4, Stanley looks like he’s going to be a lock for top 6 for years to come to. Our left side will be really log jammed. We’ll need to make a decision to move someone. I think Morrissey becomes the odd man out.
Interesting. The reason I went with Pionk to go was due to Hamilton because they're both offensively minded so I figured DH would be a good upgrade there. Then you have a top pair in DH and JMO then a shutdown pair with DD and VH (or Samberg). Then that third pair could be UFA like Hamonic or Poolman comes back.
Or, if they were able to sign a guy like David Savard, then I'd be more willing to trade DD (as they play somewhat similar styles). So then Savard/Jmo, Ville/Pionk and Samberg/ whoever.
Man, it sure seems like it (talent wise). But TNSE is so loyal (probably to a fault in some cases) where JMo isnt going anywhere. But while he's looked off for a while now, I think it's more from his partners than anyone else. He's had countless partners since the beginning of last year (and some rather poor ones too) because they just throw anyone out there with him because of all of the trust they have for him. So I think if he were to have a stable top 4 partner on a consistent basis, I think he'd be back on track pretty quickly.
But in regards to that logjam, I don't know how you deal with it. The Jets very well may lose a guy like Stanley to Seattle at this point tbh.
