Detroit's not trading Namestnikov after giving him a 2 year deal plus he's a local kid and a Yzerman favorite.

Ya maybe. Signed for 2 years doesn’t seem to be in Detroit’s timeline to compete IMO.

Pettersson is signed 5 years, to a good reasonable contract for a 24 year old, top 4 LHD, plays 20 plus minutes a night, and still more potential there.

To me, Pettersson would be more in Detroit’s timeline than Namestnikov.

And the 2nd round pick for Ryan is probably good value alone.

Yeah Namestnikov is basically a warm body until the kids are ready anyways.

I agree Lafferty is bottom 6 and currently Detroit has too many bottom 6 forwards. Zohorna may be 6'6" but his height is that important and at this point he looks like the AHL is his celling. Detroit currently has 8 players on their roster that are 6'3" or taller including Mantha 6'5" and Rasmussen who is 6'6" and several prospects that are 6'4" or taller. It's going to be harder than you think to move Pettersson unless he starts to play up to his contract and I don't see Yzerman taking on that contract. Currently Detroit could get a 2nd for Ryan but as I've said that can change given his situation. Namestnikov has been less than impressive but he has been getting chances and he has been playing hard. Yzerman drafted Namestnikov in TB and played with and won a cup his uncle Kozlov. So I have no idea how Yzerman values Namestnikov. But Ryan for a 2nd.

To be clear I'm not saying Namestnikov isn't going to be traded I just have no idea what his value would be.

Pettersson is a top 4 LHD signed long term to a reasonable good deal, plays 20 plus minutes a night.

they just signed him long-term this summer..lol.

I don’t know who u are talking about..?? Matheson maybe u are confusing him with??

Zahorna will play in the NHL.

And Lafferty is good NHL player with still some potential there. Right-handed shot, can play C, RW, LW. He’s a quality bottom 6.

The 2nd round pick value alone is probably enough for Ryan.

And Defense is always very valueable in the the NHL. See Ceci, Jack Johnson, M.Staal. And Especially young D-men, already NHL and play-off experience, that play 20 plus minutes a night.

You are right I did confuse Matheson and Pettersson sorry. I get it with Lafferty but Detroit has a lot of bottom 6 forwards including 3 or 4 I wouldn't put Lafferty in front of like Glendening, Brome, Smith and Helm. I'm not convinced Zohorna is an NHL player a good AHL player that could get called up if there is an injury but thats all I think he is and unless he proves otherwise i don't see my opinion changing.

Zohorna 1st season in the AHL this year. He’s played overseas the last couple years. He was invited to Pens camp this year and if there were preseason games and a longer camp, he might have won a roster spot this year. Most likely will have a spot on the team next year.
