Nah, leafs reject both
Zadorov is worse than dermott alone and the gap between wilson and nylander isnt a late 2nd

Maybe he’s a bit lazy like Malkin from time to time, but Nylander isn’t soft. When he’s on his game he’s using his speed to get in on the forecheck, retrieve pucks & win battles.

Oh man...I was going to post trades involving Zadorov and Wilson as well...and might have even been thinking of trading similar Leafs

Thank you @BenjaminWalder for going for it. I agree with JaredOfLondon on both accounts but I think I might still be tempted to go for it.

When games start getting physical nylander shys away from the play and just lets the other guys retrieve pucks. He is really soft

Why would the Capitals take on Nylander for Wilson when Wilson is not replaceable. The Washington Capitals will easily decline that deadline

You know what man, i could definetly add and subtract, i was just looking in and around what the price could be. I feel Zadorov and Wilson are kind of like what the leafs are lacking and i think if they can come in and play well for the leafs, this team is better.

I made it more about the price than the team's willingness to give up on a player

I agree 100% with your comparison to Malkin's apparent effort game in and game out as well as nailing Nylander's strengths. Trading Nylander for another forward would probably always land on Wilson for me although someone here a bit ago challenged the opinion that Wilson gave a top effort every night and might have a point...

Zadorov is awful and wouldn't even make the leafs regular lineup.
Wilson is a downgrade over Nylander in everything that has to do with hockey.
The leafs are easily worse after these trades

While I personally wouldn't consider that Capitals trade, I get why some people may like it. The Hawks trade, however... big oof

Yeah i knew people were gonna be skeptical. The Hawks right now need younger defenseman with more potential and the leafs need some tough customers. It works out for both sides in a way

You don't need to sell me on Zadorov being bad, I'm no fan. "Big oof" is what I was going for with "The Hawks trade, however..."

And what an utterly pointless addition a guy who can only fight would be.
Fighting is a bonus for a player, like extra cheese on a pizza.
Without the actual pizza you just have a hand full of cheese. And without being good at hockey, you've got a mean pylon that will hurt your team every time they step on the ice more than they'll hurt the guy rhey fight every 6 games

Wow you explained it pretty good even though i dont agree. I still think Zadorov is useful but hey, we all have our own opinions right?

Looking for the fighting skill for a 3rd pair dman I would probably avoid a $3 MIL + guy on a one year contract and go for someone like Kurtis MacDermid who not only is a 6'5" 233 lbs aggressive fighter, he is only making $875,000 and is signed next year as well meaning he meets the exposure requirements for the Seattle Expansion Draft which the Leafs don't currently have if they protect the Top 4. MacDermid could probably be had for a 4th round pick or a lower prospect.

Isnt MacDermid younger and I heard the kings dont wanna give him up. Plus zadorov isnt only about the fighting he is much more than that

Actually MacDermid is a year older than Zadorov and is turning 27 and will be a UFA when his contract is done. Zadorov hits like a freight train, smile

MacDermid hits hard as well just not as frequently as Zadorov and WIlson

Try watching Bogosian play the next couple nights. Pay attention to what he does with the puck in his own end. About 75% of time he's going to throw it over to Dermott, who will pass it (or skate it) out of the zone. Which works out perfectly fine, because Dermott is the better puck mover and more mobile.

Bogosian with Zadorov would no longer be able to defer to his D partner, because Zadorov is worse then him at moving the puck, so Bogo has to try to get the puck out of the zone (not his strong suit), or he tosses it over to Zadorov who also is poor at moving the puck.

So the entire time they'd be on the ice, it would be a fire drill in the Leafs zone. Sure they'd have lots of hits, lots of blocked shots, maybe even some fights (oh boy!!!), but they'd also be digging lots of pucks out from behind Freddy.

Your moves may make the Leafs tougher to play against, but they'd also make the Leafs easier to win against.
