No he doesn’t. If you read it from NHLTradeRumors it’s the least reliable source in the planet.

Also that doesn’t get you even close to Gibson

If you added puljujarvi and Bouchard it might be interesting.

Korpisalo sucks. Why would Edmonton retain and add an asset?

Never say never. I know Anaheim doesn't want to trade him but a goalie in the prime of their career doesn't want to stay through a 4 year rebuild they want to compete for a stanley cup.

What gets a guy Gibson?

They wouldn't do those particular names but Samorukov and Lavoie for sure.

Doesn't matter how many ways the trade is, the Oilers shouldn't be giving up more assets for a worse goalie. Koskinen > Korpisalo, you're giving up a bunch of value here.

Trades aren't made on emotion they are made on reasoning and value. If Gibson actually says he wants to contend then they will take the best offer they can get and Edmonton has lots of pieces they can trade.

I sure don't have a high opinion of Koskinen right now. I'm thinking if you are a rebuilding team you would rather take a chance on potential from a young goalie than an older goalie who is inconsistent and can't play more than 40% of games. My thoughts were paying the price to get Gibson no matter what other than giving up Nurse, Bouchard and the core 4 Forwards.

From another thread:

Why would Edmonton give up so much of their future for Gibson (.921)? I don't see the logic... they could keep all those guys and sign Binnington (.918) in the summer if they wanted to. Or Grubauer (.937), or Halak (.938).

BTW, since the start of 2019-20:

Gibson: 2.87 GAA / .907 Sv% / .822 HDSv%
Koskinen: 2.94 GAA / .911 Sv% / .830 HDSv%

Gibson isn't the answer to all the Oilers problems. And yet you're giving up their top-3 assets like he is.

You aren't impressed with Koskinen right now because his numbers are bad, but that's solely due to him being overplayed badly.

(His stats this year are) a small sample size where Koskinen was run into the ground due to the Smith injury and Holland bungling the 3rd goalie/waiver situation repeatedly. In the first 3 weeks Koskinen had played BY FAR the most minutes (593, 2nd was Grubauer with 478) and had faced BY FAR the most shots (325, 2nd was Vanecek with 241). That kind of workload - 10 games in 18 days - would break down just about any goalie.

To show just how insane 593 minutes in 18 days is, you can look at Gibson himself: by the time he'd played 593 minutes, 25 days had gone by - fully 7 more days than Koskinen. And Gibson had the 2nd most minutes of all goalies in the NHL at that point.

Gibson had a down year last year but if you look at the rest of the years he played 50-60 games and had a .917-.924 sv%. Halak will be 36 next year so maybe for a backup? I don't like Binnington and i also don't think St louis lets him go. I think grubauer will be available and i don't mind him but I'm concerned about having a smaller goaltender and the way the league is going. The league is getting faster and the majority of the goals are on deflections and ping pong shots. Teams are taking things hard to the net too with faster players and there are no consequences for running a goalie really. To me you have to have a 6'4" goalie or bigger who just covers more net and can take a hit.
