Only this was known back in the summer, and it said that New York called Buffalo at Eichel's and the price was very big. You may have to give up Laf+ or Kakko++.

You wouldn’t get to not add one of your big 3 AND have any protection on those firsts. Just not gonna happen

Ooh, that sounds nice. How about laf plus a couple unprotected firsts, one absolutely being in 22? That might do it!

I've seen enough of these trades to know that everyone will come crazy at you for not including one of Kakko/Laf. I don't think this is totally unreasonable but not sure where Buffalo would stand on it

I think it comes down to Quantity vs. Quality (Which is a very fine line, and is not meant to upset Rangers fans who are pretty high on Lundkvist, Kravtsov and Robertson). To me, if I'm Buffalo, I'm not doing it without Lafreniere being included. Obviously that means you're getting less pieces back overall, but I think I need to be getting someone back that may someday get to an Eichel-type level, as opposed to some lottery tickets.

I don't know...There's (soon to be) 31 other teams in the league. Some Rags fans try to make it seem like the Rangers are the only possible destination for Eichel. I have no horse in the race, so it doesn't really have any baring on my day to day, but if I was Buffalo, I'd tell the Rangers to F*ck off and move down the line if they weren't willing to include one or the other.

I can see both sides of it. Buffalo isn't willing to lose a franchise piece without getting the potential for one back, Rangers are not willing to move on from their top picks so early. obviously there's no compromise where you can split Lafreniere in half, so we will just have to wait and see which team breaks down first or if Buffalo decides to go somewhere else. Rangers have some great prospects to put in a trade package, but it's all about that bow on top.

100%. And again, I absolutely would not trade Jack Eichel if I was the Sabres.

Don't shoot the messenger but it was Elliotte Friedman that specifically said the Rangers. “The team I would look at first is the Rangers,” Friedman said before the host added the L.A. Kings into the mix. “I think the Rangers could make the deal. I think both those teams could make deals with Buffalo that would make you say maybe we didn’t get the best player in the deal, but you are getting more than one thing you’re excited about.”

Hahaha, sorry! Wasn't meant to be a "Gunz blazin'!" moment. I just find that the huge sticking point with Rangers fans is "We're not giving up either of our top 2 prospect(ish) guys (Laffy/Kakko), which, to me, seems like a weird line to draw. Like, "Hey, I want one of the top 6 or 7 centers in the game, but I refuse to give up a prospect who *MAY* someday be as good as that player". Like, as a Ducks fan, would I consider moving Zegras or Drysdale for him? Sure. If I thought we were one player away from being a contender, I absolutely would (We're not though, so the point is kind of moot). If I'm LA, would I include Byfield? Yup. Montreal-Suzuki? Yup. On, and on, and on. If I'm confident that's who I need, I'm moving the prospect every day of the week (As long as it works cap-wise).

The same way la won’t include byfield is the same for us if they’re trading him this offseason it’s bc both sides are ready to move on which means the price is slightly lower and will depend on the market for him

Ok but both LA and the rangers aren’t one piece away the rangers need a better defense and a couple other pieces and obv la needs more so it’s not valid to say that sure if a team like Montreal could somehow fit him in the cap yea they do that but few teams will be able to make the packages and have the cap space for him

Here’s why, bc if I’m la I’ve got the best farm system in the league and ur gonna get a guy for 5 years when maybe u start being good for the last 2 years of that deal and then ur giving away ur future. My original point is Buffalo fans say laf and kakko plus, ur not getting both, if it came down to it would I trade kakko to be able to get him yea I prob would but def not both

There's definitely a contract coming back, for sure. With the Rangers though, the biggest holes are at C and LD (And LD-wise, you've got the young guys that *should* step up over the next year or so, and you could always chuck Strome in for cap-reasons, and then sign a vet to hold down the fort as well.

Got it. I'd do Laffy+ or Kakko++, but yeah, I wouldn't do both.
