1. They can’t afford it. Malkin make 2.5 more then Fluery and DeSmith makes more then Glass. They are already at the cap, so taking on an extra 3 million doesn’t make sense.

2. Fluery isn’t getting dealt this year. He appears to have wrestled the starting job back. At least for now.

Why on earth would the oilers do that deal

If I'm Montreal I may be entertained by the offer, not saying it's a done deal but there may be something willing the attention of Bergevin at the very least. I don't want to trade Danault but he doesn't seem interested in his new more subtle role in the team and that seems to be an issue now, if he doesn't want to be part of it a trade is foreseeable in the near future.

yeah i know the cap for vegas was a concern maybe retained salary on malkin would make it worth but i agree with you vegas would only make this trade if lehner comes back and plays like he was before and when he had is vezina season. If not, vegas has to keep fleury.

I think Vegas absolutely would have made it prior to this season.

I also still think these 2 teams may do something this offseason too, with Fluery and Malkin. The only difference is, Vegas is now looking at MAF as a positive asset, and not extremely negative.
