It's a tough situation for the Sabres to be in. I know some would say that 9 for one happens all the time, but the truth is that a player making $10 million per have never been traded before: I cannot imagine that the other players making $10 million per would either a.) accept a deal to Buffalo, or b.) be on teams that are willing to deal them. One may say, "Well, the Sabres would love to take (insert grade-A prospect's name here)," which is completely true, but the dollars do not necessarily work there: the trading team would be taking on $10 million per. While that is not necessarily the Sabres problem, it sure does limit the number of teams the Sabres can trade him to.
I'll be interesting to see how the Eichel saga plays out; if he decides to stay or, if he decides to leave, where he gets traded to and what he gets traded for.
