Why not? He's on a one year contract, what else will they do with him?

Why do we need a LD? Lauzon, Zboril, and Clifton have been great this year.

They've played well but you are not winning with 3/6 third pair D, especially rookies. Zboril has had a good start but he's been sheltered. Lauzon isn't a 1st pair D, he's been okay while being carried by McAvoy. Clifton has been fine but he should be on the third pair as RD. Trade for an established top4 D if you really want the Cup.

You would need a top 2 D to really improve your chances at a Cup. Even then it would still be a longshot, just like 90% of the teams are a longshot. The cost would be prohibitive as well as the prospect pool isn't deep enough.

Agree that no top 2 D available. If there was the cost would be prohibitive. I see your angle. Just not willing to pay a large price.
