Although he's not putting up points right now, I think he would be valuable to a cup team if MIN retained salary. 50% retained for a 2nd makes sense to me.

It will really depend on the trade market but I can't see Bonino being to costly. I think your offer probably gets it done.

Maybe a 2nd then. He’s struggling this season but I could see a team overpaying

Make it a 3rd and McCann for Bonino and Johansson 50% retained.

Not really interested in helping Pittsburgh trying to right the sinking ship so let's say your 2022 1st will get it done.

Quit trolling. Pens definitely aren’t a sinking ship. Get your facts right pal. Pens haven’t played Buffalo or NJD once yet and we’re still in the playoff hunt. We will be picking up lots of points by the end of the season

I'm not trolling. I have zero interest in helping Pittsburgh get better, because I have a vested interest in Pittsburgh doing as poorly as possible. Whether you think it's a sinking ship is irrelevant, the point is I want Pittsburgh's 1st to be as high as possible. So for Pittsburgh, it's your 2022 1st for Bonino or we walk to the next highest bidder.

Then we will gladly walk. 0 chance bonino fetches a 1st with his play today.

I'm not expecting a 1st for him. I would gladly sell him for a 3rd right now. Just not to Pittsburgh.

Has Bonino been that great? Hartman is the 3c and he has been a wing for years. Bonino wins draws but Sturm does all the work for the Wild 4th line. Most games Bonino is reliable defensively but he was not great in the last Vegas game. I would love a bigger return and maybe the trade deadline market helps with that, but if someone offers a 3rd for Bonino at this point I gladly take it.

He probably just wants pit to overpay like another fan stated. Makes senses. Wild have a vested interest in Pittsburgh doing poorly

It was very aggressive for that reason. A 3rd and a 4th or something like that probably does it easy. I don’t think they really want to take back bottom 6 players.

Like I said above, a 2nd or a 3rd and 4th does it. I’d look at the 3rd and the 4th as ways to move up in the early round to get the guys you want rather than an extra pick. This years draft is probably gonna mean that it’s important to really get “your guy”.

Helping the Pens is probably not in the Wild best interest, but I think we have seen enough hockey this season to know the Pens likely don't pick at the top of the draft. This upcoming draft has like 3 tiers of players so weather the Penguins finish with 12th pick or 20th it doesn't change things much. So from the Wild perspective I just want the best pick I can get from another team for Bonino.

It absolutely matters if you're picking 12th or 20th. And the Pens are currently not in a playoff position, and the teams ahead of them have games in hand. Even NY is catching up to them. Why would you do anything that might help make their team better? I promise you Pittsburgh won't be the only team interested in our players.

I guess I don't see the Wild being able to move Bonino without taking salary cap back, definitely not long term cap. Could still ask for the 4th but not going to play hardball over it.

He's an expiring contract, you retain 50% he's at 2M. With the way the cap space works, you'll easily be able to move him at the deadline.

I think you’re forgetting pens schedule. Unless pens absolutely blow it against Buffalo and NJD, they should get into the playoffs. I’d be more concerned with Washington. They’re only .500 against teams that aren’t BUF or NJD

Do really think Bonino turns the Pens season around?
My draft argument is this, the strength of this draft isn't top end talent it is in its overall quality and depth. So yes you always want a earlier pick so you get your guy but a player taken at 12 won't be a much better player then the guy you get at 20.

I think I don't want to find out if Bonino could help the Penguins turn it around.

The difference between 12 and 20 is at 12 you get your pick of any of the 10 prospects you want. At 20 you get what's left over.

So yeah, if the difference between 12 and 20 is just trading Bonino to anywhere that isn't Pittsburgh for a similar return to what Pittsburgh would give us, then I'm going to take that option. It's really that simple. I think you're under the impression that Pittsburgh is the only team that's going to offer a 4th round pick for Bonino?

Wild could go that route but given owners are losing money I think teams will hesitate to retain, sending cap back will make more sense. Also Wild will need bodies to fill out roster, our AHL guys should probably stay in the AHL.

I think a number of teams will look at Bonino for sure. Not sure what the best offer will be but my guess is that this Penguins offer is in the ballpark. I'm doubting the Canada teams come knocking due to the quarantine, I'm thinking Avs, Pens, Panthers, Knights and Flyers will all kick the tires on a deal. My bigger fear is that the Wild fool themselves into being buyers instead of sellers, so the sooner Wild start selling the better IMO. I should also add that after watch Wild vs. Knights I think Wild are closer than I would have guessed at the beginning of the season.
