Every one of these trades is an overpay.

Maybe during the offseason, but not during the TDL.

Still... let's all get real. None of us in the AGM are ever right about any trades. The fact that so many get so bent outta shape over fake trades is a bummer.

Gambrel doesn't get you a 2nd and I think leafs want a 3C not a 4C. Florida can't trade Driedger right now maybe in the offseason.
Colorado can't move Byrum right now when they traded Cole to the Wild they committed to the current situation. I think the Sharks could get a Newhook in a Hertl trade though.

Reason 3. Last 2 years, two 2nd Round exits. What about this team has you convinced that the Avs can go all the way? The Avs need a 2C, Kadri ain't the guy.

If a 2C like Hertl goes on the trade bloc, then there will be competition. All teams overpay during the TDL, because they're competing for depth in a limited market.

If the Avs can't handle VGK what makes y'all think they could handle TBL.

Well 4yrs ago they had a 48pt season, 3yrs ago they made the playoffs, 2yrs ago they beat the #1 seed in the playoffs, last year they went to game 7 in the 2nd round playing their 3rd string goalie and 2 AHL defenseman.

They can’t handle VGK? Goal tending we will give VGK the edge because of the depth but starting goalies It is close. Defense, I’m taking the Avs all day. In a playoff game Makar, Girard or Toews will be on the ice the entire game then oh yeah you still have Graves, Byram, EJ (if healthy), and Timmins. Wing, give that to Vegas.

And then there is center. VGK 3rd and 4th line C Glass and Nosek, COL Some combination between Jost, Compher and PEB you’d expect Glass to be the best of the bunch but right now this is a wash. 2C Kadri vs Stephenson that’s Kadri all day. Then 1C hmm MacKinnon vs Karlsson no bigger gap anywhere in the match ups then this.

So you say COL can’t handle VGK when in actuality it is how is VGK going to contend with COL.

The realest sh1t said all day.

And it why sad ass teams in the NHL keep making the same mistakes over and over for a cliched shot at winning now while the window is open. Trading a 19yr old top 4 dman on an elc is NEVER a good idea especially when said dman has #1 potential while still on that elc. I like Hertl but he isn’t such an upgrade over Kadri that you lose Byram, that’s how teams close their windows.

It's expansion mitigation. If they don't do something FLA's gonna lose Driedger for free. A 3rd for signing rites is high.

It's not just signing rights though. Its a playoff run with him, and I think Florida would rather have him for a playoff run than a mod round draft pick.
