Ryan is included for cap. If you think you are trading Eichel and only getting back picks and prospects in this climate you’re nuts. For all I care you can flip monahan at the TDL.

For what it’s worth the flames have made the playoffs the last 2 years with Monahan and sabres need a 1c. I don’t think this franchise would survive another 10 year rebuild, so they get a bit of both in this trade.

I would do Tkachuk + but management would not. Running staal as your 1c and cozens as your 1c next year probably isn’t going to fly.

It doesn't really matter if it's a mini rebuild, we could have gotten the center on another deal as well. It's just that Calgary doesn't have any parts other than Tkachuk to get Eichel. Monahan, Gaudreau and the rest do not work because of age and term.

When I read the opinion of Flames fans on their board about Monahan in recent days, I realized that this guy is definitely not what we need and I would not even trade Reinhart for him.

Tkachuk has the exact same amount of term. 7m 9m ufa. I’m equally as impressed with him (not very much).

Cap and asset wise this is what works for the flames. Good chance it’s not enough.

Tkachuk seems to be RFA and we need a player of his type (a lot of teams need him).

Like I said before Monahan and tkachuk bth have the same amount of term. He will be ufa the same year. No 1c with Tkachuk for 2.5 years won’t do anything for this team.

Perhaps sabres fans don’t have the insight? Maybe Eichel isn’t worth a package that will fix your team since Eichel himself hasn’t fixed this team.

Personally I think the sabres should keep Eichel and fire the coaching staff... all of them. This is a Flames agm though.
