Based on the tidbit friedman had in his 31 thoughts, he thinks avs were looking in on Jonas Johansson from the sabres for goaltending depth

I think its that level of goalie trade, cheaper waiver exempt guys, so the Georgiev, Berniers etc probably arent happening

The Rangers trade makes sense for both sides. Also try Dell from the Devils

they ride or die with Grubi, cheap back up pick ups aren't going to win you a cup. When healthy Frankie is just as good as any of these guys, and if we are worried about goalie depth in the playoffs, frankie probably will be healthy by then, thats how I look at it if Johansson is the goalie type they are looking at, just 3rd stringers

It'll take more than a 3rd for Boston to trade Halak.

ok i agree but if would get johansson why not get georgiev cause we will most likely loses him to seatle and trading him at tdl would work out imo yes he is more expensive but he has a potential

Would rather keep Bernier and try to re-sign him than have an extra 3rd.

2.5m vs 800k. I dont think they really want to add cap like that to get off LTIR as fast as possible so they can apply bonus money to this season vs carrying over
I really think it comes down to long term cap planning

Don’t see Columbus moving Elvis. Even if they did he is a 1b type goalie who is exempt from expansion draft so they would probably ask for a top 6 center prospect for him. What you’re offering they really don’t have any need for.

If the Avs are looking for depth, I’d be curious if Reimer would be a good fit. If the Canes go after a bigger name, and Mrazek returns...I could see Reims being available as a backup on a cheap money deal for a pick.

it it is possible, once they get healthy enough they can accrue space with Frankie just on normal IT. They just need to get healthy prior to the deadline

You could offer a 1st and IDK that they do it TBH lol. Boston like to have a 1A and 1B so Rask doesn't have to be a horse like he was early in his career. The only way I see them moving Halak is if they are out of the playoff picture.

Rangers would say no due to the fact of us asking for a first plus for geo last year

You're asking a cup contender to trade their 1B, a guy they know can still win them games and fill in if Rask goes down. It would take a stupid overpay for them to consider moving Halak, again unless they are out of the playoff picture.
