RNH at average of reported cap hit discussed and more

Created by: Oilyboy
Team: 2021-22 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 15, 2021
Published: Mar. 15, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Rushaug's report has discussions between 6-6.5, so made a roster at 6.25 down the middle. Enough cap here to push it up to 7.

If Hall wants another show me deal to finally get full value on a long term deal, is there any better fit than in McD's wing for a 1 year deal?

    Dear Edmonton Guys:

Please stop with the Getzlaf nonsense.

Now you cheapskates have enough money to pay RNH what he's really worth.

But I want Getzlaf.... Nuge is still getting 7M in my opinion from Edmonton, but from a different team he could get 8+M.

If we can't get Getzlaf, I wonder who we sign as the veteran leader we desperately need. I assume we'd sign a veteran 3C. Bonino and Staal seem like the only other options. Doubt Krejci goes anywhere else either

I think that Getzlaf is highly unlikely to leave Orange County.

I know... he would look nice in a oilers jersey though. Like you said, he will probably either sign somewhere near Anaheim, or finish his career in Anaheim. He is 35, so who knows how many more years he has in him.

If you can send me a report saying Getz will definitively only resign in Anaheim or retire, then sure I'll stop.

As far as RNH, again, going off of the latest reports from team associated media (who don't drop numbers ranges unless they know this numbers have been discussed). Obviously all we can do on this site is speculate, final numbers could be variable, but I'll stick to following the reported numbers that are available until something new is reported, rather than going off whatever 'gut feeling' number you feel RNH is worth.

Bozak would be a good 1 year, cheap deal, if he's healthy through playoffs and skating well

saying there is enough cap is a 2021-22 thing. I promise you 2022-2023 there is not enough Cap.

I'd rather see a 3,5 million dollar Winger and another Goalie than Taylor Hall.

Erik Haula. Khaira even seems like he could make it as 3c currently as long as they can get a 4C that wins faceoffs.

I hear getzlaf is very comfortable in Anaheim nice house and kids and stuff, summer all year long. I wouldn't move if i was 2 years away from retirement, I'd just stay get an NTC on the next contract for whatever money they would give me.

I'd lower that by about $1m.

I think RNH gets just over $6m from the Oilers, but could get $7m elsewhere. Nobody's paying RNH $8m. Career high 69 points, never 30 goals in a season, flat salary cap, clearly more of a 2C than a 1C. How does any of that scream "$8m"?

I wouldn’t, but apparently Holland’s highest is 7M, and someone will offer a huge amount. He is the best center in free agency this year. Rangers, Wild, Canucks, maybe even the Kraken will be paying a lot for him.

That's why I suggest the 2021-22 one year contract stat booster for Hall in my description. Nothing to do with 22-23. Holloway might be ready the next year, and more space opens up for a Nurse deal and in net support if needed.

Canucks have Pettersson and Horvat as Cs, Pettersson in for a huge raise. There's no spot for him there.

Rangers/Wild, maybe. Columbus/Montreal/Ottawa would probably pay him too I guess.

But I don't think any of those teams can offer him the opportunity to contend any time soon. I think Minnesota is smoke and mirrors this season - I expect a drop-off coming in the 2nd half of this season. If he wants to re-live his first 6 years in Edmonton on mediocre to bad teams, then he can leave. Or he can recognize what is building in Edmonton and contuinue playing with MVP calibre linemates.
