I'm excited about this. It's really no risk. If he stinks then no biggie.

I’d imagine he would if Bellows slows down

I’m pretty sure he can start playing as soon as his quarantine is over

I think you're right, because he's our draft pick he can play right away.

There's something different about Golyshev vs. Sorokin. Is it because Golyshev's contract was terminated vs. Sorokin's expiring?

they can both be in the lineup if bellows keeps it up, Dal Colle should be the 13 F.

I’m not sure, but that’s a good point. I just imagined since Krapstov is aloud to play this year for the rangers that Golyshev would be aloud to play for the islanders

I was mainly talking ab when Lee comes back but who knows when that will be, but yeah I’d definitely like to see both in while Lee is out

yeah I don't think lee will be back for the regular season. Golyshev if he's as advertised is a better option on the 3rd line than bellows because hes more well rounded. Golyshev's style of play is similar to Panarin, whether that translates I guess well find out.

I'm 99% sure that the decision was made before the summer restart that teams weren't allowed to add the KHL guys to their rosters, since they wouldn't have been available during the normal season (KHL contracts expire post-season or something along those lines). Since we're in-season, and Golyshev's team terminated the contract prior to their free agency date, I think it'd probably be fine, right?

I tend to be pretty conservative about my expectations about guys coming right over from Europe but I sure hope you’re right

Yeah so it would make sense that he’s aloud to play. Confusing stuff

the fact that its boom or bust is exciting to me lol - you never know with these Russian players. Some of them put up crazy numbers in the khl and then can't make it in the NHL. Then you have guys who put up mediocre numbers in the KHL and end up becoming top 6 guys in the NHL.

I think it was the same for the NCAA guys...if you weren't signed to a contract prior to the shutdown, you weren't allowed to play. I think Kaprizov might have been in the same boat as well?

A 0.5 ppg player in the KHL, who's undersized doesn't really scream BOOM for me, but I'm a Ducks fan, and don't really get to play the fun KHL boom/bust game, since Bob Murray apparently still hates the Soviets.

He’s 5’7 but he’s like 190 + he’s physical.

I’m just saying it’s never a bad idea to take a chance on a skilled Russian.

FWIW, this guys prospect model is high on golyshev

Yeah, I wish we took more chances like that. It'd be nice to have a few guys stashed in Russia to bring over in their mid-20's.

Also, 190 lbs at 5'9''?!?! He'll be like a little mini freight train!
