I think we move out Sceviour or Janko before Lafferty because Lafferty will be one of our exposed forwards signed past this year I am assuming, but I guess Staal will fetch a 2nd even though I really dont wanna move a 2nd for a rental who is struggling.
Pettersson trade also more likely in the summer in my opinion.

Kings were rumoured to be looking for a LHD to play on the top pair. Pettersson is a good young(ish) LHD with term
Iafallo is a UFA at the end of the year, wont be shocked if they moved him if they cant get a contract sorted out.

That would be dumb then on the Kings part because Iafallo is an expiring UFA and in this case, they get a good LHD that's signed to long term deal at a reasonable price

Iafallo has blossomed with the Kings and might re-sign with them if he's not traded and the Kings continue to trend upward from last year's disastrous season.

He's somebody the Kings should try to hang on to if they can.

Although Petterson is young and has term, sometimes I can't tell if he'd be a good fit/serviceable defence man for the Kings or if he'd be nothing more than a cap dump.

https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/301910 shows some really intense debate on whether Petterson provides good value for the penguins.

I know Iafallo certainly provides good value for the Kings.

Petterson doesn't produce in big numbers but maybe that changes if he's paired with Doughty.

Who knows? :/

yeah they aren't doing any of this. You can stop your panic posts
Malkin will be back. Blueger too. Much like with their defense, they will ride it out.

Yeah for sure, If I am the Kings, I want to keep him. But if a contract cant be worked out, and there is fear of him leaving this summers, then I would trade him for assets.

Is Pettersson that guy? Maybe. He is a 2nd pair defenseman right now, the contract has some more term, but the AAV is fair IMO

The depth was bad enough even without the injuries, now it's even worse without Blueger and Malkin. Trades have to be made regardless

that's just nonsense.
This team doesn't need to panic. It was never a front runner to begin with and guys will come back from injury.

Lmao that's total bullsh*t.

Trades to add to the forward depth have to be made no matter what your garbage logic says. This team isn't going anywhere with bums like Lafferty and Jankowski getting consistent ice time

yeah I hate to break it to you, but even if this team was totally healthy it isn't "going anywhere"
This was a flawed team from the beginning.
It has had no 3rd line all year.
Fact of the matter is, if the injuries are longer term, there is no one they can bring in that is going to "fix" the team.
You don't replace a Malkin.
But most likely these guys miss a couple of games and then come back. Their being on IR is only a cap move or roster spot move.
So keep your garbage panic logic.
Hell the team went with 2 defensemen at one point this year and didn't make a trade or any significant move. They sure as hell aren't going to panic now.

I don't know how to put this any other way than if the team is healthy, they can absolutely go on a cup run
This team is 2 3rd liners away from being a well constructed team. Staal and Iafallo can be those players
Nobody is trying to replace Malkin. Nobody with more than 2 brain cells thinks Malkin is replaceable. It's called getting someone like Staal to be the 2C while he's out.
"Panic logic" lmao ok dumbf*ck you're the one here that thinks playing Lafferty, Jankowski, Gaudreau, and Rodrigues at the same time is perfectly fine. You're not using any logic at all here.
Yea the team didn't make any trades for d-men because most of the injuries weren't long term and the defense was good to begin with, that isn't the case with the bottom 6 and it certainly isn't the case now with having 2 4th liners and a 3rd liner making up the 2nd line and a bunch of AHL scrubs and ZAR in the bottom 6.

There is no other choice than to try to improve the team as much as possible at this point and all the injuries magnify that.

look jackass. Malkin is not going to be out long term, and McCann will be back shortly. They don't need to panic.
And the fact that you are over here talking about how they are 2 3rd lines away from a team competing given the fact they have 0 actual assets to trade is telling.

Even if this team is healthy they aren't good enough to win. They will have one of the hardest paths into the cup. Having to probably go through both BOS and WSH. Then they will have games against probably TB to get to the cup.

GTFO if you think this team makes it through that. They don't they aren't good enough. Picking up some spare parts guys isn't going to change that.
