The problem here is that you're looking at the Leafs like they all need to be swapped. Stop making all these trades that jump ship from their slow approach and try and rush them into the playoffs. It's not going to work. JVR is VERY valuable because he is a very good scorer, there are only a handful of left wingers with more goals than him since 2012 and he's only got a 4.25 million dollar cap hit for the next year and a half. It doesn't MATTER about the fact his contract is going to expire, any playoff team will go crazy for that type of deal, but the Islanders are NOT that team. They've already showed signs of wanting to make the team great and I think they're seeing from the Ladd signing that they might need to go out with the old and in with the new. Yes, they could find use for JVR, but they're gonna move Boychuk's cap before moving the perfectly reasonable caphit for Hamonic. The Leafs are gonna hold a VERY high value for JVR like they did for Kessel and aren't going to let him go for nothing. Carrick is a good prospect for the Leafs and JVR is high calibre, so you're just saying Hamonic for JVR and Pulock for Carrick and that's just not good value for either. Then you're grabbing Vatanen who has a nearly 5 million dollar cap, and what will you sign Zaitsev to at the end of the year? Your earlier thing said 4.25 I believe? So that's 4.05 for Gardiner, 5 for Rielly, 4.875 for Vatanen, 3.9 for Hamonic and then probably 4.25 for Zaitsev? That's what, 17 million on 5 dmen? And then what happens to Pulock, who played for the Islanders in the playoffs last year? Isn't he gonna make a roster spot? You can't keep him on the right cause it's too clogged and Babs loves the L-R pairings so he's gonna end up in the minors and he's too good for that now IMO.
If you're gonna keep going crazy posting trades all day long, stop fluctuating value for these players. JVR is gonna be held for a mint, Bozak as well, and that's why I think aside from a possible JVR trade, you're not going to see much action. Shanahan and Lamoriello are looking to build the team from the inside with their own picks and prospects. Yes, they'll make a move for a RHD if they really do anything, but I don't see a high possibility of that RHD being a regular dman or a prospect. Don't call someone out for looking at the Leafs through Blue and White goggles and then continue to make trades that destroy the value of good players. I like that you listen to criticism, but that's also a fault since everyone has different beliefs. A Caps fan will say they're paying too much for whoever you're trading because they value their guys highly and a Leafs fan will always tell you that you're not asking for anywhere near enough because they value their guys as well. Don't judge value based on opinion, base it off numbers. Base it off corsi and points and +/- and their hits/60 and their turnovers and takeaways and the amount of icetime they get and how they produce during those precious minutes and their competition when they're on the ice for line matching, look at their faceoff percentage and the amount of shots they block and the amount of shots they've taken that are stopped and their PP/60. Look at the players when they play and judge how they go after the puck and attack it and how they form chemistry! Don't listen to everyone from all the different teams all the time because they'll value the guys they like just like you'll value your own guys sometimes. I don't post because I can't judge players but I credit you for doing it, but I want you to sometimes just listen to what the analysts are saying and what the numbers say, then you get a proper value of how players will go.
I admire how much you put dedication into it, but don't listen to everyone.
As for these trades, the Leafs will wait, that's what they're doing. You're looking for the RHD which I think is great, but you're making firesale trades when the firesale is over for now
