For the Leafs to get Bernier from Detroit they will have to throw in a pick or prospect since both goalies are on expiring deals but I like where you're going with that. He's been good on a **** team and did a lot in Toronto's net with very little in front of him. Had that bad year at the end and that's how everyone remembers him but he's bounced back and been solid in Detroit. He'd be a good stopgap.

I'm pretty sure Yzerman wants picks or prospects and I seriously doubt Anderson would even consider staying in Detroit. Bernier did get in Thursdays game and I have no idea when he will return so he might not be an option for anyone.

bernier is injured. some dumb redwing defenseman threw a guy into him then thought it would be a good idea to jump on too.

So obviously you cant go 2 weeks of quarantin with no Anderson or bernier so better to trade for bernier for a pick and then a seperate deal for Anderson after bernier is clear.

Detroit will take Freddy off your hands for Bernier but Stevie will need a 3rd round pick included. Assuming/hoping Bernier is healthy of course.

Yzerman would take Andersen+Toronto's 2021/2022 3rd round pick for Jonathon Bernier @ $1,500,000

Jackets and Preds accept.

Oilers decline.

I have no idea why the Leafs would want Bernier to come back.

he has 8 of the wings wins this year. He’s actually been really good. Freddy andersen is playing at below level replacement level right now.

I'm pretty sure if Bernier came back to the Leafs, he would perform a lot worse.

You probably remember how he played in Toronto, don't you?

When the Leafs traded Bernier to Anaheim, they put in so many conditions in that trade to make the trade look better for the Leafs than it actually was.

That trade was like the fairytale story, The Emperor's New Clothes smile

Watch the replay, you’re exaggerating quite a bit here. Gurianov was going to hit Bernier even if Nemeth wasn’t in on the play. He wasn’t putting his entire weight on his right leg and where did Gurianov make contact initially, around the knees and then falls on him.

I guess you missed the part that if Nemeth wasn’t even there, Gurianov would’ve still hit him and he was the one that hit his knee.

Bernier was actually putting decent numbers here. He wouldn’t perform worse and a better team. The leafs are miles better then the team he played for and a lot better defensively.

no nemeth then there is no one to push gurianov off balance. bernier skates away fine.

If you watch the slow mo of it. That push came after knee contact and was an extremely soft push, more of tap. The injury based on the walk off is the knee/leg. Nemeth didn’t throw anyone during that play. Is it unfortunate? Absolutely, Bernier has been a bright spot for this team and kept us in games we had no business being in. Could we say if Nemeth wasn’t on the ice Bernier wouldn’t be injured? Maybe, if that was a clean breakaway then maybe Gurianov wouldn’t of cut right or try to get an angle on Nemeth but this is hardly Nemeth’s fault.

looks to me like nemeth made contact a few feet from the goalie, enough to throw guianov off balance. maybe push or shove is better description than throw. the way i see it is no nemeth no injury.
