Garland

Created by: Richard88
Team: 2020-21 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 21, 2021
Published: Mar. 21, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
According to Friedman Arizona could move Garland if they can restock their futures. What sort of offer would it take from Colorado? He's not a 3C but he's in the mould of a "Blake Coleman type" that Friedman said a few days ago that the Avs are looking for.

really hard to say until he finishes this season.

edit: if he stays steady this season maybe $4-5m short term and $5-6m long term.

I dont understand the Coleman comparison. Coleman is a defensive forward who kills penalties while Garland is an offensive guy

Garland isn't as strong defensively as Coleman, but he's still a solid two-way player on a cheap caphit.

Will take a lot more than that I think you are looking at moving multiple prospects like helleson kaut Bowers and a 1st

Compher doesn’t add any value to them, his salary is 4.5m next season and since garland is an rfa with arb rights coyotes would be scared of his arb case Reward,

If they move him it’s probably for multiple higher end elc guys

While it is the Coyotes so nothing surprises me anymore but if I Colorado wants Garland I am asking for Newhook. Coyotes need quality over quantity (although the offer is pretty good).

You’re not getting Newhook for Garland period.

I could see Ranta perhaps being moved if they know what Garlands contract demnads are like.
But that is more of an offseason move

Yeah agreed, but Garland just doesn’t do it for me. Yeah he is on the Yotes, but he is going to get paid a bit and if Ranta is taking that next step that’s another elc to help reduce the cap hit

I agree as well, dont sacrifice for future for players that are not a position of absolute need. Fiesty scoring wingers is a nice idea to load up, but do they really need it?

Probably not but that would be my ask if Colorado called. What is a counter offer in between Compher + Timmins + 1st and Newhook?

If I’m the GM, nothing because I wouldn’t want Garland because COL doesn’t need a top 6 forward and they wouldn’t likely be able to re-sign him. But for the sake of dialogue the only the highest I’d go is Kaut, Timmins and a conditional first.

@Xqb15a it was a Colorado fan that made the original proposal. I agree that they dont really need him.

On Garland it’s on goals not team success the first number I thought of was 25, but again I made a proposal for the sake of dialogue not because I would want him.

They don't really need him but he maybe nice since we know from last years playoffs that injuries can happen and if we do have him and he's on the third line for most of the year until playoffs and someone goes down with injury like they did last year he could slot in the top 6. Thats just what I think and that's my opinion
