Pay a lottery pick to pay tony deangelo slightly less than they are currently paying him to not play for them while also picking up alex kerfoots salary?

I highly doubt it.

I don't think you really want DeAngelo's cancerous attitude\personality in your dressing room influencing guys like Marner, Matthews and Nylander.

Saw an interesting video about something like this, good cultures tend to make cancers go away easily. Rangers are a bad culture - but other teams (Toronto, Colorado, etc.) are good cultures and could probably silence DeAngelo. Not sure if you're an NFL guy, but think about Antonio Brown on the Buccaneers. Nothing but a headache and then he lands in a good culture in Tampa Bay and you'd forget he even exists.

Deangelo (cancerous attitude aside) is the more productive player of the 2.

Wouldn't give up a 1st for Kerfoot alone, nevermind sending Deangelo (with retention) to Toronto.

Rangers will buy him out for inconsequential sum. Leafs can scoop him up then on the cheap, if they like.

What makes the Rangers a bad culture?

I think a lot of it probably has to do with Tony D, and the fact that he felt like he could do what he did with no pushback. Took an altercation to get him out of there, I'm sure the players had enough.

Yeah, Tony was a bad apple. Shouldn't reflect on the team, as a whole. They did everything they could to keep him in check, and when enough was enough, they removed him from the rest of the players.

The guy is making major bucks this year, and the Front Office is still keeping him away from the team to preserve the locker room. That's accountability you usually don't see in sports.

Furthermore, if a team can be classified as having a bad culture for having one bad player involved, then I guess you have to include the Coyotes and the Stanley Cup Champion Lightning (his former teams) as other toxic environments.

I honestly take this deal in a heartbeat.. keeps our 22/23 cap open from the 383K in the buyout. We get a late 1st, then flip kerfoot for a pick.. I’m not sure how any NYR fan could say no to this. We might be able to salvage 2 1sts for ADA. Then flip those 2 picks and 2 more for Eichel. I’m seriously scratching my head at the amount of NOs I read
