Why does CAR make that trade?

It weakens their D and no way Staal is worth a young roster D and a good C prospect. The other adds from BUF are trash.

Staal for a 4th or pound sand.

As for the TOR trade, no team is giving up a 1st for 2g Hall as a rental.

Canes decline, but why don't you have that Weissbach kid signed yet . Look at his totals in the NCAA.

toronto fans will whine, but thats a fair price, especially taking money back with term.

I don't think thats a good trade for carolina though, they decline easily.

You don't listen to the news do you?
Fridge reporting that Hall won't even get a 1st on its own.

This also implies that you think Kerf doesn't have value and is a cap dump, which is blatantly false.
He is a good player worth his deal.

Forget value for a min...the Canes can’t take two roster forwards for 1 roster defenseman regardless of who they are. Not a championship winning move.

Doubt it. Drury probably won't sign in Carolina and Fleury has a nice 0 points in 27 games this year.

Drury probably won't sign in Carolina and Fleury has a nice 0 points in 27 games this year. Staal gives them a familiar center and they get 2 young forwards, one of which is a top player in the NCAA

I have no clue. He probably doesn't want to sign with us. My bet is he becomes a UFA and signs in Montreal so he can play with Caufield

Fair enough. I heard highly credible rumors on this site that Drury won't sign with Carolina so they trade him to get a prospect of equal or lesser value in Weissbach. Fleury could use a change of scenry imo

If you think the news is always right than idk what to tell you. Hall will get the equivalent of a 1st imo. Kerfoot isn't a cap dump but he does have term so this trade frees up cap for Toronto moving forward and therefore the return would be greater

Canes can hold his rights for a little while longer and Fleury has more value than Staal anyways. Canes still pass

You have no clue whether or not Drury will sign.

Fleury has no points, but still is quite young and under team control.

Staal as a rental doesn’t come close to either asset
