Is Chevy going all in or not

Created by: Wpgman
Team: 2020-21 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 27, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
So there is talk that Chevy is active on the phones about making moves before trade deadline. Some fans want to go all in and some don't want to sell the farm. Where am I? I say buy. The most important addition is a partner for Morrissey so here is the options I would like to see.

Option 1- Trade for Ristolainen and Morrissey and him are on the first line. Cost for Ristolainen would be? Vesalainen, Niku, and a 1st.

Option 2- Trade for Ekholm and Hamonic. Ekholm partners with Pionk on the first and Morrissey and Hamonic on the second. Ekholm will cost a 1st and 2 prospects not named Perfetti, Heinola, or Samberg. Hamonic should be had with a 3rd and a B prospect.

I hope Chevy brings back the atmosphere we had here 3 years ago.

Any gm giving nearly that much for risto is insane. You already have pionk for PP and the only other thing rusto offers is physicality

Low acquisition cost dmen is what he should be looking for, I see the prospect names being thrown around in trade speculation and think they all could be lineup staples for years to come starting next season and some possibly later this season, wouldn't part with any of them, going for the big fish never worked for Washington, their only addition when they won the cup was Kempny.

Morrisey needs a more defensive partner ristolinen wont do much for him. Basically a guy like Savard or Hamonic would help him out greatly.

Arizona also has some guys (Demers, Gologoski) so could be worth a look

This is where I stand. Trade for hamonic and Savard. Think hamonic would be good with pionk, play hammer on the left side and Savard would be perfect for Morrissey. Leaves us with a really good third pair of Forbort and Poolman.

Savard likely could be had for a 2nd and b prospect, and hamonic likely could be had for a 3rd and a b prospect.

I’m thinking like:

2021 2nd and Luke green for Savard
2022 CBJ 3rd and Nathan Smith for Hamonic

Seems right, I think it may take a better prospect then Green though but parting with Vesalainen for Savard is too much imo.

Should only take a pick for Hamonic but it sounds like he's making it pretty clear he wants to stay in Vancouver so not sure the fit is really there even though it makes a lot of sense to add him.

Guys like Savard, Hamonic, etc for 2nd/3rds, B/C prospects are guys they should target, funny they're similar to the dmen I was saying they should've signed in the offseason.. Lol

I always thought hamonic should have been in a Jets jersey. I really think if he was asked if he wanted to go to wpg he’d say yes. Just built a new house and spends a lot of time here. I agree CBJ likely asks for a better prospect, but it wouldn’t have to be much better, maybe like a kovacevic?

Also Savard should have been coming back in the Laine deal anyways, so grabbing him now just fixed that mistake.

At minimum Chevy should be getting Hamonic or Savard. DeMelo and Poolman is not the answer.

Yeah it'd be cool to see Hamonic in a Jets jersey, I'm not hung up on having a local guy on the Jets at all but he's a quality human being and think his presence would be good for this group.

I think it may take a Kovacevic or Gawanke for Savard which is fine either way as history says neither are likely to be given much of a chance by this organization and they're grooming some of the LHD prospects like Samberg to play their offhand so really the writing is on the wall for those two imo, if being AHL dman of the year as a rookie wasn't enough to get Niku a fair shake and playing the likes of Bitteto didn't get Nogier a chance then seriously wtf would Kovacevic or Gawanke have to do to get a chance in the lineup, marry Chipman's daughter?!!.. 😂

with Columbus in the race Savard seems less likely but could happen. But Hamonic probs gonna waive and say sure. Should not cost to much either

Going all in is a stupid decision on Winnipeg's part. Better to make trades with the intention of contending in the next year or two instead of trying to do this season.

Not many WPG fans want to go "all in" and most of the trades do not include Perfetti, Heinola, or Samberg. We have some 2nd tier players (Stanley and Vesalainen as examples) and draft picks that are available that might be included in trades but there must be something significant coming back. Coming to the conclusion that going after Hamonic and Savard (if available) are just the type of players WPG needs to upgrade their defense. Chevy as much as we chirp on him has done a good job preparing the Jets for now and in the future. He just hasn't been able to find that 1rhd.
