Surprising. He wasn’t very good in the AHL. But sometimes goalies are better in the NHL than the AHL because the AHL is very sloppy

you guys traded for one too many penguins goalies. Should have trusted the 1st deal.

he was ahl goalie of the year last january, he’s always had the talent, he just needed to find some consistency (which was fine since he’s only 22). I’ve viewed him as our future starter for a long time, I think he’s still the goalie with the most upside in our system to be a high end starter eventually (sogaard would be the other guy in that conversation, the rest don’t have the same talent/upside imo)

He was very good in Sweden but not as good in the AHL. It’s pretty hard for me to understand how smaller rinks impact goalies. Is it because in bigger rinks, shooters are more on the perimeter making shots easier to stop? I have no idea

I think it’s more to do with positioning, because the angles are all different. A shot from the hash marks along the boards is different on both rinks, and players cutting to the middle are at a different angle/speed as well. Not to mention the AHL is just a tougher league as well. He’s got the instincts though, and positioning is one of the easier things to work on with a goalie so I have faith he’ll pan out, he’s still very young for a goalie.

I really like his positioning. Night and day better than Hogberg and he can really cover all of the net

I’ve only got to watch him once so far but I really liked it as well, he looked big. Like it looked like he was covering the same amount of net as Markstrom and Markstrom has 4 inches and 20 pounds on him

Looks pretty solid. 2 way guy maybe like David Savard style. Offence isn’t amazing but defence he’s solid.
