Pittsburgh and Vancouver accept.

Everybody else declines.

Also, rebuilds don't happen "on the fly".

Leafs decline that for sure. That's a lot to give up for a rental. Maybe if that deal includes an extension then I'd look at it.

Hextall likes building his teams through the draft, which is a breath of fresh air for Pittsburgh. I don't think that he is going to mortgage another year's draft picks for a player with only 2 years left and is in his late 20's. Maybe he will, but I personally doubt it. And I love Forsberg. I laughed when Washington gave him up for an aging forward like that lol.

I'd be ok with getting a 1st for Jarnkrok. I really know nothing about Nathan Smith, so I don't have an informed opinion about the Ekholm trade. I don't like any of the others for NSH though. Kerfoot, Pettersson, Eriksson - none of these guys bring anything NSH is lacking. They're better off holding onto guys like Forsberg and Granlund than settling for these returns. Taking Eriksson even for one more season should be worth more than a 2nd.

Forsberg has 4 years left on his deal at a very nice cap

Rangers did a rebuild on the fly. You just retool a little bit and aquire some picks and prospects and hopefully after 2 years you’re good to go just like Rangers is now

Did he recently sign an extension? Because according to CapFriendly, he only has 2 years left.

yeah he has 1 more year after this according to capfriendly.
Not that it matters anyway. Absolutely no consideration for the cap here. The penguins can't afford this. They would have to move someone like Zucker out. Then you are playing 1st, 2nd, polin and Zucker for him....No way, no thanks.
