This team isn't good enough to contend on paper, but it's better than their record.

People forget this team has played more road games than a lot of teams, hard to start the season for 6 weeks in AZ, learn a new system, and come back from an injury riddled season last year.

Routinely hitting on UDFA scouting (Simek, Sorensen, Knyzhov, Viel) and draft picks in the second round and below (Labanc, Ferraro, Balcers, Gambrell, Leonard) is the main reason why San Jose can recover quickly from bad years. Even with the Karlsson signing not panning out so far, it was understandable in regards to why Wilson did it. When you've had really good teams for so long and you just fall a tad short every damn year, it can lead to psychosis while constantly chasing for that big silver hardware.
