Description
Anaheim trade explanation:
Rakell has had an off year which has effected his value, however he still has term on his contract so this makes him a more attractive option for the bruins at RW. My thoughts were a B grade prospect, a young roster player and a 1st should be able to get it done. When you compare it to the Toffoli trade last season it seems fair considering the term on Rakells contract.

LA trade explanation:
Although Iafallo is better than Debrusk, he would most likely be a rental whereas Debrusk still has a few years on his contract. The trade would probably include a conditional draft pick depending on if Iafallo re signs with Boston.

New Jersey trade explanation:
I’m probably way off on this one. I thought Murray alone would be worth a 3rd round pick considering he will likely be a rental, but I may be undervaluing Wood. But using the MIN/SJS Donato trade last year and the Luke Kunin trade as a guide, I feel that this deal could get it done

I don't know Lohrei that well but based on what I've seen from a quick Google search I don't think NJ accepts. Probably have to switch Lohrei with Vaakanainen and/or change one of the seconds to a first. I know that's a big return but Wood, who has always been popular, has been a legitimately good all around player for NJ this year and they value him greatly. They'd have to be blown away to move him.

Murray alone is probably an easier/more realistic trade to make. Probably a 2nd or a mid-level prospect. Depending on market could be a bit lower like a 3rd or maybe a 4th.

Loorei > Vaakanainen
And yes, they'd have to change the 2023 2nd to a 2022 1st at a minimum.

Hmmmm interesting. I honestly know nothing about Lohrei besides his draft position and point totals from hockeydb. I like Vaakanainen but I know he hasn't developed (yet) exactly the way Boston is probably hoping for.

Lohrei is 6'4" two-way d-man, skates well for his size, and leads USHL in scoring for defensemen.
He probably projects as middle-pair player, maybe with some PP time. But not a top-2 all situations type.
Vaak projects to be bottom pair or swing blue-liner. Two years ago was seen as a 'prospect' but is now viewed as bubble player between NHL and AHL.

Boston isn't dealing Mason and you've underpaid on Rakell

We're not adding a second-round pick to Iafallo unless somebody much, much better than DeBrusk is coming back. To put it another way, we can get a much better return for him elsewhere without sending the draft pick.

Don't think Boston is trading a cost controlled player for this UFA and don't thing LA is trading draft picks WITH Iafallo in a trade. A team trading for Iafallo is likely making a Cup push so you won't be getting a much, much better player or even one as good as DeBrusk coming back from them. A better return than DeBrusk is likely prospects, draft picks. What is the rumor?

Agree with all five of the points you make here. My understanding is that we would trade Iafallo only if we're getting a prospect plus a first- or second-round pick (depending upon the quality of the prospect). Otherwise, we'll just try to sign him in the off-season, even at the cost of letting him walk.
