Draft Day

Description
A - Draft Day.
Pick #13 - Carson Lambos. He's kinda been all over the board, BUT so have many of these guys. Zator's top 100 has him at #16 Barrachini has him at #13. Forbes at #12. So he's at least around this mark.
Pick #45 - Joshua Roy. Younger Centerman in the draft. Won't turn 18 until August, but still decent size and production.
Pick #60 - Cameron Whynot. Because....well...do I really need to say it?

4th round picks. I have no Clue, but it would probably be a smart move to make a gamble or two here. I trust Mark Kelley and his scouting staff!

B - Next Year.
I'm an optimist. I'm hopeful Toews is ok by next year. 1st I want him to be healthy before anything hockey related, but I hope he comes back too. Sign Borgstrom and Nylander. Have them both come to camp and compete. No promises given to any prospect. Go win your spot.

C - I'm hopeful that Stan can convince a veteran to give the Hawks a chance. This is somewhat unrealistic, BUT similar to STL and Hoffman...maybe once Seabs/Shaw go to LTIR we can convince a big time UFA to wait just a day or two and then sign. Who? You tell me in the comments below! I would love to have to force Kubalik down to the 3rd line. Those are good problems to have.

I honestly think Seattle will take DeHaan. I guess maybe Gaudette now??? IDK, but either are getting protected and DeHaan has actually played well this year. EITHER WAY...I would just allow Seattle to take whomever. The Hawks are positioned well.

I would be so happy if we got Lambos, I've been really high on him for a while.

I like the Gaudette trade I think he could fit in the Kubs-Gaudette-Hinostroza line, I think the hawks may have to give up a 3rd or 4th for Seattle to take de Haan because either Gaudette, Kampf, or Nylander will be exposed

I definitely like the draft analysis and while it may be a thinner year after the top 5-10, hopefully the hawks can find some diamonds in the rough.

As for borgstrom and nylander, I don’t mind borgstrom getting a fair shake, but for me nylander is still on a short leash. See if he actually fights for his place, but if he doesn’t show it, see ya. As for toews, I know everyone doesn’t wanna hear it, but we gotta think about life after without him. He’s way too sick and his chances to play again are minimal at the very very best. I just pray he stays comfortable and without too much pain.

Yeah, it's a tough question to answer. I think the best player IMO is DeHaan. The $4.5M cap hit is a factor though. Maybe Seattle wants to take the risk and go Nylander? He hasn't done anything in the NHL (to date) to deserve being taken, but his ceiling is high. Seattle does have 32 picks. Kampf too...I could see him fitting as well. 4th line center...good at the dot. I could see it. I obviously don't have the answer, but if they go just best player available...I do think that's DeHaan.

I've been a nylander defender on here, but I agree with this. With Kurashev and Suter being skilled forwards who give it their all every game and play hard, and Borgstrom being the newest reclamation project, you have to think if Nylander doesnt stick right away hes gone.

In terms of drafting, its really hard for me to pin a guy as the guy we should pick at wherever we draft, because who knows how far we fall between now and the draft, and who knows who will still be on the board by then. I think if we can't get one of the best defenders (Power or Clarke) we should try and snag a forward (Johnson and Lucius if we move into the top 10 and Robertsson if we hang around 15). I've seen conflicting opinions on Lambos and Edvinsson and I'm convinced one of them will fall enough to where we can probably move up with our two seconds and try and snag one of them or a similar defender in the late 20s early 30s.
