really pleased. avs addressed all their holes and have good depth going forward.

I`m surprised they didnt go for a big splash despite the team already being a powerhouse. Not going to have this kind of cap space again.

They didn’t have cap space this season, they had to trade cole away for nothing just so had space to keep byram on the roster plus they need cap space left over this season to apply makars bonus money so it doesn’t carry over

Only way they could do a splash is move cap off the roster and outside of compher there is no one the avs could move that is justifiable

Plus there is a chance they activate someone off ltir which they need space to it, putting guys on ltir is leading of what cap space they have

Yeah it's a pretty solid deadline from Sakic. A very "Sakic" deadline lol. Just bargain-bin shopping and targetting very specific players. He still has a good base of futures to use in the offseason if needed, and didn't compromise the expansion draft approach.

Toews and Grub have looked tired lately. These moves will lighten their load down the stretch. I still want to see Bowers, Kaut, etc.

I agree with all this, except I don’t think we will see Kaut or Bowers unless they clinch 1st in the west early. The Avs had every chance to do that this year with injuries to Calvert and Compher, and instead have played guys like Sherwood, O’Brien, etc. Kaut in particular has zero left to do in the AHL.
