You guys have had a terrible season. Trading Eichel I believe is a good move. He is an excellent player but not a unifier. Signing Danault to $6M is rich and a bit of an overpay. You will not get much offense from him, but he is excellent on PK, 5on5 and faceoffs.

Not sure Habs let Allen go for only a 2nd round pick considering they were willing to pick up his big salary for a back up and then extend him two years.

When I see a first line of Denault Virtanen and Skinner I think Yikes.

I know this is just for fun and all, but Doughty has a no move clause, even still why would the Sabres have interest in Doughty? His contract is huge, and he's getting paid until he's 37 he is still good but has shown deterioration with age and by the time the sabres are contenders he's going to be far past his prime.

Habs have to expose him unless Price waives his movement clause, so if he doesnt they at least dont lose him for nothing.

Leadership, the contract sucks but it breaks even with Eichel basically and he may have a few years left in him.

What if Habs do something crazy and expose Price? LOL (yes I know he has a full no mouvement clause)

Danault buys time for Cozens, Peterka, and Turcotte. Skinner's got a new coach who took his leash off and Danault is a disher. Virtanen is a wildcard as to whether or not we see a second wind from him, maybe 1st line minutes motivate him, but Id rather have Cozens and Olofsson build chemistry as that 1st line is very temporary

Its plausible they ask him to waive it (but if he waives it and Seattle passes on him you just told your $10 mill goalie you dont believe in him)

Not sure his leadership is worth 11 mil for another 6 years for a player that's already shown signs of slowing down

Virtanen is a fourth liner and Danault is a third liner much like Branden Sutter.

Not to worried about next year directly if they move Eichel and Reinhart, the plan is to graduate Danault to the 3rd line when the kids are ready to take over without throwing them into the fire. Cozens, Quinn, Murray, Ruotsalainen, Turcotte, JJ Peterka, ****emo, probably Beniers, and the 3 1st round picks in 22

They dont really have any huge contracts till Dahlin in 4 years (maybe Olofsson gets a decent raise) but by then the cap should be going back up

I kinda like this. That doughty contract could be a tough pill though.

I think he'll be serviceable for most of it, like Weber in MTL. And like I said by the time he is getting to the end of it the cap will be going up again

VAN decline, they are not moving a 1st round pick. Also this move makes no sense for them cap wise. They also like MacEwen and what he brings to the team.

Dude.... why are u seemingly obsessed with trading for “leadership” so badly???

We need to be trading for as much TALENT as we can get

Just overpay a couple UFAs to be our “leaders” for a few years

      And much like Kopitar,
it’s pretty unlikely that Doughty is waiving to come here
      Plus, that’s a terrible contract
I’d trade Skinner for him, but putting him in the Eichel trade is a really bad idea- we need to get the best possible return for him

The team has wasted talent having no leadership, name a contender right now that filled its roster will rookies and won. Every one of those teams has established leaders and gritty players. The Sabres have more than enough talent players they're missing literally everything else. This is the same as throwing Ruotsalainen and Thompson (and Skinner) on the 4th line and thinking thats a good idea. Their arent any UFAs that are elite champions that are still producing well.

If u think we have enough talent- ESPECIALLY AFTER TRADING EICHEL- then that’s nuts dude

And neither Kopitar OR Doughty (or any other good Vet with an NTC) is likely to waive to come here....
why is it so hard for you to accept that???

      I agree we need leadership-
but why not be REALISTIC about it???
