Ok let me name all the fleece jobs (at least what i remember cuz i became a hockey fan in 2013)
- Eric Staal for two measly draft picks
- Anderson for Domi and a 3rd
- The Danault trade
- Pacioretty trade
- Petry trade
Times he got fleeced
- Sergachev/Drouin trade
Every other move is in the middle
Staal had 10 points in 30+ games with Buffalo and now 2 points in 11 games with Montreal. That's all he was worth
The Danault trade wasn't a fleecing, it was a gamble that won. Danault was a prospect who panned out. Totally different
The Pacioretty trade was a good hockey trade. Both sides won. Pacioretty is vegas' leading goal scorer and point scorer and signed for term. They're not regretting it
The Petry deal was a second and 4th for a pending Ufa #3 defenseman. Seemed like a market rate
He's hit on a bunch of his trades I'll certainly give you what. But that's just part of his job and he's done crappy for most of the rest.
From 2012-2017 he did awwwwwful drafting. He got 4 NHLers total and traded one before he played for them (Sergachev), the other three are a depth player in lehkoennen and galchenyuk and mete who he just waived.
Since then he finally made some potential hits in Caufield, Romanov and JK.
Well have to see on Caufield and Romanov but both look like really good picks. JK was probably a decent pick but we'll have to see still too.
He's repeatedly failed to address areas of concern and repeatedly spent assets to NOT ACQUIRE A #1 C
Most of the habs success in his 9 years were more that price was a hart caliber player for about 3 years then anything he did.
He's a bad gm who a couple great trades in 9 years of otherwise mediocrity at best
