Sam is currently our 1C, NOT 3C

My bad
I just realized u weren’t talking about Reinhart

Yup taking about jost, guy thinks avs won’t protect him or can’t afford to Keep him then signs him to a 1m contract

This guy is just trolling at this point

Hes their Top PKer, solid defensively, since moved to 3C he has 10 point sin 16 games....yeah they wont protect him. Give your head a shake
The will 100% protect him bc avs are going to be tight against the cap and he brings insane value.

Not sure whats worse, the logic you have behind the trade, of the value you think it would take to give him

What's your projected protection list for the Avalanche?

I don't know if you have a subscription to the athletic but in this article they talk about some comparable contracts in Mantha (5.7x 4), Josh Anderson (5.5x7) and Bjorkstrand (5.4 x 5). So I'd say 6x5 is reasonable.

He’d already be signed if that were true
His agent is asking fir 8.5mil per,
and i know that fir a fact

7-3-1 bc Erik Johnson will waive his nmc since he’s been injuries all Season and will be out all the playoffs too. There is no benefit of him not waiving it and there is no risk of Seattle taking him, they wont waste their pick on a 33 year old coming of major injuries making 6m who might not even be able to play again

Mackinnon landeskog rantanen kadri burakovsky jost and nichushkin
Makar girard toews

Avs will lose one of graves donskoi or compher bc they need to lose 3m which gives them the cap space to extend makar landeskog and grubauer

Not rocket science

Ok well if your insider information about Johnson is true then I'll accept it. This is starting to make sense though because that other guy is best friends with Sam Reinhart and you must be the team doctor of the Avalanche.

it not insider info on Johnson, hes hurt and hes out for the rest of the season, announced by the team
and before this was even announced it was said back in February he would be open to waiving it.

Like you really are a troll and a bad one at that based on your comments

Uh Reinhart is worth a lot more than a 1st in a bad draft and he isn't available anyways. We will give him a nice 5-6 year deal I imagine and it will be valued between 6-8 mil a year

Well for one they risk losing him for nothing in expansion. Another reason being Colorado has a big offseason ahead with major signings like Landeskog and Makar and as a result of tight cap space he's traded.

He 1000% gets protected, @coga16 covered the play reasons, the other being because the Avs know they will lose somebody, and given the tight nature of the cap they would be much happier losing a $3-3.5M contract ala Graves, Compher or Donskoi than a sub one million contract on a guy who is blossoming into the role of 3C. The whole argument ACGM’s make about making lopsided trades “because they will lose him for nothing in the XD” is so farcical. Why? Because teams learned from VGK XD, and they also know they will lose A player in the XD, why compound it by losing 2 players one to a bad trade another to XD. And finally you don’t really think there aren’t enough center starved teams out there that multiple teams like CBJ and DET to just name 2 wouldn’t pay more for a young versatile guy that can play wing and center, play special teams and is finding his groove offensively? Yeah fast hard easy no, the basis of trade is incorrect and therefore rightly be rejected outright.

Seriously? This has been in the Denver media on multiple sources, try DNVR, check what Chambers has said from the The Post. Bednar came out and said EJ wouldn’t be ready at all for the regular season and it would have to be a deep playoff run for him to play in the playoffs? Let’s pretend you’re the Avs, would you ask EJ to waive? Yes. Let’s also pretend you are EJ and after the Avs present to you, “we want to keep you, but we don’t want to lose Toews, so we need you to waive, because Seattle isn’t going to pick an injured 33yr old dman making $6M, or we can buy you out, and you can go from being on a Stanley cup contender making $6M to trying to find someone in a flat cap era to give you a contract to play period.” Now it might not be worded exactly like that but that’s the gist of it. If you don’t understand that you’re just not being realistic.

Ok, this isn't a hill I'm willing to die on but how is it my job to find evidence for a claim you are making? That is ridiculous. I'm not an Avalanche fan and don't read the local media so I don't know the extent of Johnson's injury but do know that he has an NMC and that's what I was basing my projected protection list for the Avalanche off of.

He has a modified NTC NMC, the Avs can ask for it and has to provide who he would accept a trade to (19 according to CF). This topic has been covered add nauseam since the Avs obtained Toews in the local media along with the protection list. Jost has played his way onto the protection list end of story.
