The final necessary goodbye

Description
This season has been tough for sentimental hawks fans. Saad was traded, Crawford left and then retired, Seabrook retired and today, Shaw retired too. I think that it’s time we make the final longtime goodbye for the next few years. Duncan Keith should be given an opportunity to win with a contender one more time. He’s already a no doubt Hall of famer, but it’s clear that he A. Doesn’t fit the timeline of the team and B. Is actively hurting the team with his play at his amount of icetime. He’s one of the least valuable players in the NHL right now by most advanced analytics and the eye test of his defensive play confirms it. The direction of the organization makes this move difficult, but necessary as we need to allow our young defenseman to get the icetime they deserve. I know that for some, you can't move on from Keith yet because of his locker room presence, but I feel that holding onto Keith just because leadership when hes 37 years old and we have guys who can step up and become leaders in his absence like Kane, Debrincat, Murphy and maybe even Kirby Dach, on top of getting back Jonathan Toews next season. This to me is absolutely something that can be done without wrecking the locker room.

CHI
  1. Lindholm, Hampus
  2. 2021 2nd round pick (ANA)
  3. 2021 5th round pick (ANA)
Additional Details:
Strome can fill the role as de facto #1 center while Zegras grows into it. Still has fringe top 6 potential and maybe the Ducks can capture it and make him more consistent. Zadorov fits well on the third pair with his physicality and moving on from Lindholm a year before he hits FA allows the Ducks to give Haydn Fleury a consistent top 4 role. The ducks also improve in draft value while the hawks get their first pair defenseman to play with Adam Boqvist. The Hawks also up their number of picks despite dropping in value. Overall, I think this is a deal that makes a ton of sense and fits the needs of both teams involved.
ANA
  1. Strome, Dylan
  2. Zadorov, Nikita [RFA Rights]
  3. 2021 1st round pick (CHI)

    Keith, Murphy, Stillman
    Lankinen
Trade Michal Teply to ensure they don't select Gaudette, Subban, or Zadorov. I was really high on Teply this time last year, but he hasn't really stepped it up in the AHL. Even in the games where hes gotten quality icetime, hes barely producing and he hasn't looked good either. I'm willing to move on from him if it means I get De Haan off this team
    3.
    CHI
    1. 2022 3rd round pick (WSH)
    Additional Details:
Fans will want to trade him for less, odds are if hes traded he gets dealt for even more pick value. I care more about the fit in Washington than the picks, because I think he works really well on their 3rd d pair alongside Jensen for the next 1-2 seasons
    WSH
    1. Keith, Duncan ($2,400,000 retained)
    4.
    CHI
    1. Neal, James
    2. Savoie, Carter [Reserve List]
    3. 2021 6th round pick (PIT)
    Additional Details:
Oilers get cheap 4th line center with elite faceoff ability but not much else. Also move on from James Neals cap hit so they can sign actually good depth in FA. Savoie is high price but if they can bring back RNH and sign a good middle 6 winger with that cap space, losing a prospect like this will be worth it

Do you think strome is gonna be in play to move or does it depend on how the toews situation shakes out

I think it all depends with the Toews situation

I'm not as sold on Lank as I was a few months ago. In his last 10 games, hes got a .889 save percentage. He's really struggled recently and I don't know if he's really gonna be any different from the other late bloomer goalies. Binnington was a great story but he's faltering recently and I think the Blues are gonna regret the length of his new extension. Scott Darling was another one and he went from playoff starter with a .930 save percentage to barely an AHL guy in only 2-3 years. I just don't see why Lankinen will be any different and I think putting the trust of the future of our organization in his hands can be very risky. There's the possibility he could be Raanta, but the shine on Lank is falling off faster than it did for Binnington or even Darling

I absolutely expect Strome to be available to be moved, he doesn't seem to fit our future and for a center, his defense and faceoff ability is very weak. I think we should move on while hes still got value

I think his value is around a second rounder, maybe a second and 3rd, but I would prefer that we use him as part of a package to get something better as opposed to shipping him off for picks
