Created by: dilldoughs
Team: 2021-22 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 30, 2021
Published: Apr. 30, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Protected:
McDavid/Draisaitl/Nugent-Hopkins/Puljujarvi/Yamamoto/Archibald/Benson
Nurse/Bear/Jones (risk exposing Klefbom with the hopes Seattle passes on a potentially-retiring player)
Skinner

Options:
Neal/Kassian/Turris/Lagesson/Koskinen -> Choice: Lagesson

Assumes Klefbom is ready to play again, even if it's not right at the start of the season. A lot of their off-season decisions hinge on his health, so this ACGM is based on his return.

Leftover cap space to sign some depth.

You like Schwartz more than Tatar? Both hobbits, Tatar scores more and has a history with Holland.

Not much interest in Hoffman personally.

To much or to long for Larsson and JS. Wouldn't June trying to sign JS but not sure about that sort of committment.

Both too small. Oilers already have too many smurfs in top 9. I think they'll like for someone a bit bigger.

I like Ethan Bear but he's not a top pairing D. Never will be. Unfortunately I think they'll have to package Bear to get rid of either Koski or Neal salary. Don't think there's any chance they get Ullmark for 4M. Buffalo can & will overpay to keep him... likely 5 for 5. Too risky for Edm to do that.

Bear played top pairing minutes last year and excelled, Neal is an easy buyout, and one year of Koski is not worth getting rid of a 23yr old RHD, holy..

He did play well last year... struggled this year, but improving. You gonna bet on 40 year old Smith duplicating his amazing run again next year in a full 82 game sched? I'm not. IMO they have to be contenders next year, for that they need to flip Koski for top level goalie, and to do that they'll need to give up something from a position of strength. RHD.

Don’t think anyone wants smith for another year, Driedger & Ullkmark should be targets imo
