thats way to much for JT Miller. Wont get a 1st and Graves from the Avs. Drop the value from the first and avs might be inserted
Cap wise it doesnt work for the avs Either. Money for Money is the type of Avs hockey deals they have to look at this offseason

Foegele is going to cost more than a 3rd. Probably at least a 2nd or even a 1st. If you do a 3rd, probably a Better prospect on top of that

I think Miller gets a late 1st and a Young D in return as value, he’s a point per game player on a great contract. Might not be the AVS but concept is getting a D back to replace Schmidt

hes not a ppg palyer though, career or this season. Last year he was but every other season in his career, he hasn't been. So you cant label a guy that. Its not remotely true.
I wouldn't say great contract in the flat cap era. When you can get his production in UFA for cheaper now based on it. Not a bad contract but not amazing either.

You will get value back from him, but not a 1st and Young dman level back. Not in a flat cap era where teams will want to try to keep cap hits down and keep young cheaper assets on their teams.

If Savard is willing to take that kind of deal, I think we'd rather ask him to come back here rather than trade a 1st for Schmidt.

I think the value is fair. considering the pick will be late and i think the hype around graves makes him worth more than he really is that's a fair deal. He was moved for a first and a 3rd before he put up 72 points so his value is up a little high but so is graves. Maybe you could ask for a middle round pick back to even it out but it's really not that bad.
Look at what coleman was traded for, a lower first and one of tampas top prospects. Coleman puts up 30 points as a career high.
I agree with you we'd need to shed more cap to make it work though, and bringing him in would pretty much make kadri expendable, do you think he would get a first?

It does make Kadri expendable especially since they already are playing Newhook at 2C with Kadri on the wing. Miller would be better in that role of C and shifting to the wing as he has done it his whole career

Value is fine but adding cap isnt ideal. Have 1 good year doesnt mane that sends the value either..look at Domi, he had an out of the blue 70 point season as well when he was a 40-50 point guy, now look at him. 1 season doesnt set value, especially when its not the current one.

Coleman can not be used as a precedent, that was before the flat cap covid era and Tampa legit over paid just so they can have his cheap cheap cap hit on the books for this season. If he was making 3-4m he would not fetch anything close to that return from Tampa.

Maybe not, but could just buy him out with only $50k cap hit, either way he’s not coming back

Why is VAN moving Miller? he is not a piece they should be looking to move.

Thought is he has value and VAN needs more picks and a few years before they can compete, those first four picks would go a long way to restocking their cupboards in key areas of weakness
