End of Season Moves

Created by: Aussie_Blackhawk
Team: 2020-21 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: May 10, 2021
Published: May 10, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The next step in our development of these youngsters.

Bringing in a 2 way LD to play top line minutes and who is mobile will only benefit Boqvist.

Added forwards coming in next year of Borgstrom, Reichel and the like so thats why this roster looks bereft of forward depth.

Gaudette taken in the expansion possibly.

Zads moves to ARI to replace Goligoski and Hjalma with experience and size for a mid prospect in return. Its hard to consider we traded Breadman for this.

I don't think Koskinen cap dump alone is worth a first so with the addition of Strome I think this has merit.

The Lindholm trade. The big one and the most important one in this ACGM. He would help us immensely and there is enough wiggle room there to nut out a deal if the Ducks dig their heals in.

Leave your thoughts below.

Forgot to add, the Carpenter trade can happen this year or next, no stress on that deal but I think he could get a late 4th or 5th.

With Lankinen Subban likely a .905 tandem and the team being kinda meh it seems fair to say this team is still rebuilding so I don't understand the HL deal

Where would strome fit in with Edmonton. I don’t hate the deal just don’t see a spot for him.

I would see him as a wing to McDavid. Strome isn't a natural wing, but this way his talents are utilized. He's got great vision, passing, and a pretty good shot. McDavid would spread the ice with his speed and Strome would be the trailer. What Strome isn't...is speedy and he's not a bruiser. BUT he can be a complimentary player for sure.

Well strome isn’t going to be pushing jp off that line and he brings a lot of that already so the open spot on the left wing is there but I’d be looking for someone with a bit of nastiness there not to protect mcdavid but to battle hard in the corners and in the slot strome in my opinion doesn’t fit that.

Love the moves. Only other thing I'd do is trade subban and get a solid veteran goalie to split time with lankinen.

What about subban for kosk? 1-1. Helps Edmonton with cap space and provides hawks with an experienced goalie with only the one year remaining.

That'd be a last resort for me. I'd first try to land a ufa like bernier or someone. Then if that doesn't work I wouldn't take on koskinens contract for free. I'd want like koskinen and a 4th for subban.

The HL deals are in response to the fact that he's only 27. Whereas ANA probably won't want to re-sign him due to the point they're at in rebuild/re-tool land, for the Hawks, who want to still compete with Toews/Kane, extending HL as a long-term 1-3 D makes sense.

I will say I think you need more to finish that deal (think Beaudin or replacing Barratt with someone like Reichel), It makes a ton of sense for ANA and CHI.

if (a big IF) VGK need cap space I would look to do a Subban packaged deal there for MAF. Would be able to help Lank improve on certain aspects and share some of his experience.

Cant do Subban for Kosk as we need that Strome trade for the 1st and Kosk to get the HL deal across the line.

I wanted to come up with a solution so we could try and keep our top 15 pick this year. I don't think they can hold us to ransom as he will likely leave as a UFA at the end of the year however there is wiggle room in the deal and I think they could make a deal work. We wouldn't allow Reichel to move, Beaudin could make the discussion. I think we would prob ask for a 3rd in response of adding Beaudin if that were the case as he holds value.
