With an Eichel trade

Created by: TMarch
Team: 2021-22 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: May 15, 2021
Published: May 15, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I don't think Stevie Y would do it. I don't think BUF would accept it (maybe). But this is my shot.

Stevie already said Larkin, Raymond, Seider were untouchable, so I'm using that as my boundary.

Remember, the Pegulas own BUF, so money is always going to be a factor. They save $16.5mm next season.

Doesn’t suck as much as skinners contract though.

Technically Petruzzelli is a UFA in 3 months technically right now Detroit doesn't own his rights without first signing his 2 year ELC. And Detroit can't pick #5OA only #1OA, #2OA, #6OA, #7OA or #8OA depending if Vancouver falls below us then it's #7OA, #8OA or #9OA Not interested in Eichel and Skinner would rather have Eichel and Reinhart. FWIW i guess we could still trade Petruzzelli's rights to Buffalo just doubt he'd sign with that joke of an organization though.

Trading Eichel gives the Sabres over 40 mill in cap space

Veleno or Berggren has to be in the deal. Bertuzzi makes no sense. Buffalo doesn't need another Reinhart situation, 1 year away from UFA. A very late 2nd doesn't add much value in an Eichel deal. This gets outbid by everyone.

You're right. The draft sucks worse than skinners contract.

Not nearly enough. If Detroit was still in the west, they dont have the pieces to acquire eichel, tie in fact theyre in the same division, no where near enough

He gets to choose his team on Aug. 15th if he hasn't signed with Detroit so I don't see anyone giving up any thing more than a used puck bag for him.

Agreed, He doesn't have any value doubt any GM gives up much for him if there's a chance he signs elsewhere. Can't see him signing in Buffalo over Detroit anyways.

The only team that Detroit can still fall below is Vancouver and they have 4 games left. Vancouver needs 4 points to move ahead of Detroit an if they tie Detroit in points then 2 of those points have to come from a regulation win. So Detroit will finish either 5th or 6th from the bottom then you add Seattle in the #3 spot. So Detroit will be in the 6th or 7th position going into the lottery and we can't forget Detroit's lottery luck and once that is added in Detroit's 1st round pick will be either #8OA or #9OA.

I'm sorry no one player is worth that much and I'm glad Yzerman has enough sense to realize it.

    Then select Eklund or Guenther...

Same player and same caliber player don't mean the same thing...

I'm not arguing the value of the trade, I'm calling you out on your bad take regarding the 5th OA pick in the draft

Its not a bad take its actually the consensus. The top forward in the draft tops out at a 2c. Its not equal to last years draft at all, where the top 3 forwards are expected to be franchise players, and the dmen in the 5 and 6 spot top pair dmen. I was also referring to the context of the trade, which is nothing

Hello to all Sabres fans. Question: Would you trade Eichel for Svechnikov, Rasmussen, Cholowski plus Bernier? Please let me know, G(eneral)M(otors), Detroit.

Buffalo would be crazy to accept that. Nothing in that trade would come close to filling the massive hole at Center this trade would create.
Detroit would be crazy to offer that. They have too many holes in the roster to be trading multiple pieces for any one player.

Yes, the #1 pick in the draft is usually expected to be a franchise talent, that is not the case this year. That is why this draft got labelled as crap.

However that does not make the rest of the draft class bad. If you take out McDavid and Eichel from the 2015 draft and someone like Mitch Marner, or Matt Barzal goes 1st overall then that is what you are looking at with this year's draft class. It is a very solid top ~20 players without a franchise talent at the top. If you walk out of this draft with a Zach Werenski, Kyle Connor, or Mikko Rantanen at #5 then you aren't going to complain

You said the draft sucks, that poster is saying the talent level of the first couple picks aren’t franchise players but the puck in this ACGM isn’t top 2 so it doesn’t matter. The 5-8th overall in this draft is comparable to last year.
