I just picked NJ to eat part of his contract cause I know they have plenty of cap. If Buffalo blows up I could see them being a better fit.

Would he waive?

He waives for NYI. Similar to the Foligno and Janmark trades at the deadline. Minnesota eats half, NJ eats half of that (1.875), and NYI gets Parise at 25% of the contract.

Major difference between the Janmark/Foligno trade is that they had 1 year deals. Parise has 4 left.

This is really interesting and I hope people at least appreciate it for that, really wish more AGMs were like this, I think NYI might well offer more for it ultimately

The big issue here is RNH conceptually & materially

Going to all that effort to unload aging player dead money which is what RNH will be there ultimately and almost certainly a value disparity asap it's just odd

Going from one of McDraisaitl as a primary linemate and a 10% drop in PP from EDM to MIN easily sets him back to 50 pts a year (was on pace for that even this)

It feels like one step forward one step back all told

With RNH I feel like he would be a good line mate with Fiala. But you bring up a good point with him basically getting a downgrade on line mates. So the money could be used elsewhere. Fiala has kind of been the odd man out on the roster where he doesn’t have a “partner.” Ek Greenway and Foligno are together, Kap with Zucc. Just need to find someone for Fiala.

Also thank you for appreciating the idea. Lol. So often on here things get ripped apart.

What’s the Isles motivation behind making this deal. Parise’s not even in the lineup for Minny so why would they give up Bellows for him. If they wanted to dump Komarov there’s probably a cheaper way to do it with a team like Seattle or Buffalo.

What would the Devils eat $3.75 million for four years for nothing? 2nd and 3rd maybe cover year or two of that.
Unless there are multiple 1sts on the table,
NJD declines

Devils are eating 1.875. Not 3.75. It was hard to visualize.
The Wild eat 3.75, NJ eats 1.875, NYI get Parise for 1.875.

It’s known Parise would wave for the Islanders and Lou likes his former players. So I picked the Islanders.

Remember parise made it clear he's not going to waive to give to a bad team, or rebuilding team at this stage of career

So, parise won't be waiving to go to New Jersey. As for islanders not only taking back a ladd contract, islanders wanted wild to take back cal c, & 1 other contract which Guerin isn't willing to do

He’s waiving to go to the Islanders. Also he’s going there at a quarter of his contract. They wanted to send that with his full contract.

Yeah just wanted to echo this comment. Kudos OP - very creative and intriguing stuff here. I'd love to snag RNH (or Coots, or someone similar) and not have them fill the role with ridiculous expectations. That person wouldn't necessarily need to be a bona fide 1C when you have depth like this, which I think can sometimes help guys flourish.

My only major suggestion would be keeping Bonino instead of Stepan. Cost would likely be similar, and I like Bonino's durability and experience more than Stepans.
